Wyon, façade of the temple of Theseus, rev. legend in wreath, named (To William H. Bidlake, BA, for Measured Drawings of St Mary’s Church, Leicester, 1883), 57mm (E 1280; Taylor 24a); Liverpool Architectural Society, a silver award medal by H. Sumners, named (George Hornblower, for Best Sketch Book, 1882), 60mm [2]. First brightly cleaned and with rim nicks, second with edge bruise, otherwise both extremely fine; second with case [this damaged] £90-120 William Henry Bidlake (1861-1938), a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement in Birmingham; b. Wolverhampton; educ. Tettenhall College and Christ’s College, Cambridge; RA Schools, 1882; RIBA Pugin Travelling Fellow, 1885; set up in independent practice, Birmingham, 1887; pioneered the teaching of architecture at Birmingham School of Art, 1893 and director of the School of Architecture, 1919-24 1002 Royal Institute of British Architects, George Godwin Medal, 1881, a silver award by G.G. Adams, bust right, rev. legend around wreath, named (Herbert Austen Hall, F.R.I.B.A., Godwin Bursar, 1919), 56mm. Cleaned in the past, otherwise about extremely fine £50-70 Herbert Austen Hall, F.R.I.B.A. (1881-1968), senior partner in Whinney Son & Austen Hall, was a past president of the Architectural Association. He is associated with the post-war design of several livery halls, primarily the rebuilding of Carpenters' and Clothworkers' Halls, but also the interior and north part of Fishmongers' Hall and an extension to Drapers' Hall 1003 University College, London, Donaldson Medal, 1865, a silver award by J.S. & A.B. Wyon, bust of Thomas Donaldson right, rev. legend in wreath, edge named (E.G. Newnum, 1906-7), 57mm (BHM 2832; E 1582; Taylor 232a). Cleaned in the past and now re-toned, otherwise extremely fine £60-80 Baking 1004 Association of Master Bakers, Essex County, a silver and enamel award medal by A.C. Bloxham, county arms, rev. named (Class 55, A. Welsby 1914), hallmarked Chester 1913, 44mm, named (Class 10, 2nd, A.E. Clarke), hallmarked Birmingham 1926, 32mm; Croydon Bakers Exhibition, a silver and enamel award medal by Toye & Co, named (W.E. Murray 1939), hallmarked London 1938, 44mm; Croydon & District Master Bakers Association, a silver award medal by Bravingtons, named (1932 Class 49, W.J. Grimes), hallmarked Birmingham 1931; National Co-operative Bakery Exhibition, a silver award medal by W.J. Dingley, named (Watford & Harrow Co-op Soc Ltd, 1960), hallmarked Birmingham 1959, 50mm; Richmond & District Master Bakers & Confectioners Association, a silver award medal by A.C.
