The given master plan of this plot in Berlin deals with the idea of the firewalls, as a separation for each individual parcel. To accentuate and to sharpen this idea, the project is based on the concept of living in the strip. The parcel is divided into four equal, transversal strips. Each living unit is organised on one floor, as an enfilade of rooms. Every room is part of another of the four strips and they allow for a perspective through the enfilade.

MONSTER : urban project in renens studio martin & anja fröhlich / in collaboration with adrien comte bachelor 5 / 2013

The high density in the construction lot is a reference to the industrial «monster» buildings of Re- nens. The mass is divided into smaller units, in response to the characteristic building typologies of the city. Different cooperative societies own the lots, while each cooperative provides between 15 and 35 living units depending on their financial capacity. One living unit has a surface from 60m2 to 150m2. The arcades along the building reactivate the street and allow for an extension of the commercial district. The courtyards introduce light into the building mass and define common spaces, accessible to everyone. Construction Rules: The appearance of the facade has to be conform to the defined grid (openings, balconies). Openings can only be created by digging into the mass. The facade material has to be uniform for the whole building. All the entrances to the apartments are situated in the patios.

UTOPIA : image of an utopian city studio martin & anja fröhlich / in collaboration with adrien meuwly bachelor 5 / 2013

Nowadays we face the problem of social segregation, which influences the living together in a city. This utopic district confronts this problem by allowing everyone, regardless of his race, social background or religion, to find a place to stay. Regardless of the wealthier people who have the privilege of the famous swiss view, the organisation of the district emphasises the interaction between different kinds of people.

BIERGARTEN : table design competition / 1st prize studio martin & anja fröhlich / in collaboration with charlotte prins bachelor 5 / 2013

The task: Design a table with double use. It should provide a workplace for 18 people and serve as a presentation board for the projects. People facing each other, will influence their working method. With the relation between construction and mass we can define the level of sustain- ability. The type of presentation and the time needed for the conversion represent the way of looking at the results and the flexibility of the design. «What we believe was missing in the studio, was working as a big group and being able to exch- ange ideas with a wider range of people. We therefore looked for a solution that could gather more people around the table, sort of like having a beer in a «Biergarten». We then decided having a bench would accentuate the idea of working together as a big group.»

FAT BUILDING : foundation of arts in telecommunication studio jeannette kuo / in collaboration with charlotte prins bachelor 4 / 2013

The Foundation for the Arts and Telecommunications building is an office building offering stu- dios for production as well as more formal desk space. In the early stages of development, we initially tried to place all services such as ventilation, toilets, electricity and lifts into 2.5-3m thick dividing walls. These walls were then punctuated with enormous holes to bring light into the building and create passages from one «slice» to the next. Despite the openings, the light entering the building seemed insufficient and the organization of different programmes proved complicated and illogical. This period of trial and error was, however, essential to the develop- ment of the project. The final project separated the building in a less literal way, by creating a path of courtyards through the building, bringing light through the mass and a visual connecti- on throughout the whole space.

HOUSE OF BOOKS : spatial sequence studio jeannette kuo bachelor 3 / 2012

House of Books is a project for the rehabilitation of a reservoir into a library. The existing structure is constructed underground and characterised by a grid of arches. Light and atmosphere are the main issues in this project. The main idea was to create a unidirectional structure by removing the longitudinal arches, and the separation of the space into three levels, with the introduction of the boxes. The boxes represent the mass of the books, serving as an archive space. The entry floor on top is the library space, while the reading space is on the lowest floor. The window pane is separated from the wall of the reservoir, in order to introduce an exterior space. This exterior space penetrates into the archive mass, to allow for more light on the floor of the reading space.

TRANSLUCID : reading space studio jeannette kuo / in collaboration with pierre marmy bachelor 3 / 2012

In this project, the goal was to write a manifesto with three points, as a basis for a reading space, realised in a 1:5 model. 1 / a diffuse light which allows us to identify the time passing-by. 2 / a rather closed space in which you can perceive a filtered exterior reality. 3 / to have a view.

MATRIX : train station / hot air balloon landing strip studio dieter dietz / assistant key kawamura bachelor 2 / 2012

The matrix represents a whole city, in which different lots were attributed to each student. The connections between the different lots were one of the main issues. This part of the matrix is con- structed to function mainly as a train station and in addition as a hot air balloon landing strip. Due to the position (one «end» of the diagonal, that goes through the matrix) and the function, the connections for pedestrians and merchandise are one of the most important issues in the project. A train station has a certain importance for a city, by connecting the city itself but also to the outside. The train connects the matrix with the outside and different passages for people and merchandise give a possibility to move in itself. The project can be regarded as a traffic knot. The elevator, which is an important medium to access the whole city, is connected with the neighbour project. Three passages, leading over the station, connect further two other neigh- bour projects. Two of those passages are designed for pedestrians and one for merchandise. The difference between the two passages of the pedestrians is the form and the usage. One of them has an even floor, which can be used as a fast and comfortable access. The other one readopts the negative structure from the vault, creating an uneven passage, intended to experience the form of the initial topography.

CADRAGES : masque de vision studio dieter dietz / assistant kasper magnussen bachelor 1 / 2011

This project is based on the cubist idea of having a defragmented perception. The deconstructi- on of objects in different pieces, which composes a new image is the main idea of this project. Realised with reflecting cubes, which are interdependently linked with points or lines, the whole masque creates some sort of a device, that allows for a new way of perceiving the surrounding area.

SHS : morbus / graphic design ecal bachelor 4 / 2013

Based on the quotation: «The apple never falls far from the tree», the idea was to realise this quotation in a series of images, which explains in a series of images, how imaginary hereditary illnesses would evolve during time.
