Lea ding the sale is a Rolex Oyster Cosm ograph Daytona, ref. 6265, owned and worn by auto-racing legend Ca rroll Smith ($150,000-200,000). Carroll Smith had a storied career in racing where he held the titles of driver, engineer, manager, and writer. He is best known for his time working with and the on the GT40 Le Mans Project; the compelling race th at inspired the r ecent film Ford vs. . His r esponsibilities on the project included overseeing preparations of the winning cars in th e 24 Hours of Le Mans in both 1966 and 1967. The Rolex Cosmograph was gifted to Smith by the Cuddy Racing team for the 1973 SCCA L&M F5 000 Championship Series. The team was headlined by the notorious Bill Cuddy, known for his racing as well as his cavalier run- in s w ith the law.
