Both of these fonner Ampico artists (not to mention Welte-Mignon and Duo-Art) live in New York. GEORGE COPELAND, who also lives in New York, recently released a third stereo LP. The 83 year old pianist included SChumann' s "Faschingsschwank Aus Wien" (Op , 26L some Debussy pieces 1nclud1ng "General Levine," and Bach's Sara­ bande from the English Suite #5 in e minor. Mr. Cope­ land was with RCA Victor in the days of 78s. His rolls were made for the Aeolian Co. (Duo-Art) and the Amplco. FREDERIC pIXON, known on the Ampico rolls for his wonderful recording of the MacDowell"Kelt1c" Sonata among other compositions, lives in Salt ~ke Ctty. and 1s still aet1ve as a teacher and pianist. WILBUR CHENOWETH'S ..Vocalise" was performed beautifully in San Francisco by the Roger Wagner Chorale, this last December. Famous organist was born in Sett1mo Vlttone. in P1edmont~biY/: ~ /·":;, on'AugUst 6,' 1886. He began with the study of piano at the age of 6. After stUdytno·.·..· . : : ~·1 the organ he beQan to perform at ten on that instrument in several ofthe ltallan ch~· :, r· ·: ~~·· ehes , Later he studied at .t he Milan Conservatory and then later at the ConserWtory ·, ., of Turin. He remained there for three years and won a scholarship in plano. Later he went to the famous Accademia d1 Santa Cecilia in Rome. He graduated from there In 1905 with honors in organ playing, theory and piano. After becoming substitute organist at St. Peters (Vdt1can) and organist of the Royal Church in Rome, he went to America (1907). F1rst he became organist at St. Francis Xavier Church in New York. In 1926 he was appointed organist and musical director of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, a post he held for a number of years. He concertized extensively throughout America. He is said to have done more to popularize organ concerts in this country than any other musician of his time. He wrote the Christmas song "Gesu Bambino", and a popular piece "Nena," both of which he recorded for the Ampico. His most representative work is "The Triumph of St. Patrick" a large choral work which was performed at in 1934. Yon was succeeded at St. Patrick's Cathedral by Dr. Charles M. Courboin, the eloquent Belgian organist.

SHURA CHERKASSKY. American pianist bam in Odessa on OCtober 7, 1911. He came to the in 1922. He made appearances as a child and his performances pleased the critics as well as the famous pisnists of the period, in­ cluding Paderewski, Rachmaninoff, Godowsky and De Pachmann. Cherkassky was given a scholarship in 1924 at the Curtis Institute and at that time he was guided by the great Josef Hofmann. He was called a "formidable virtuoso" by one critic. Recently he has played in Europe and has made some re­ corcUngs with conductor for Deutsche Grammophon.
