SH - I see it in young people. Young people are still idealistic. Young people are still imaginative. Young people are still filled with hope. They have dreams. But all of this is buffeted by the constant barrage of the negative media and by that I mean the bad news of the world. We are inundated with tidbits of information and we are starved for philosophy. To put it another way, we are given no idea of the strategic concept of our society - what it really is about - and we are constantly being torn with tactics of how we deal with each if you just keep in mind that in my day as a young man, when I was eighteen years of age impressionable, idealistic, looking forward to the university, and my eyes filled with wonder about what it was all about - I came from a community where we didn't see the daily newspaper very often.     The Armor of God Preached by Vic Pentz, Pastor Emeritus, Peachtree Presbyterian Church Feb. 2, 2020 Bryan Dunagan – Well, this is such a great treat and I'm so thrilled to welcome my good friend and former boss and beloved mentor, Vic Pence, back to Highland Park Pres. I have learned so much from this man. In fact, when I first became a Christian, Vic was my first pastor. And I'll never forget how when he preached, he would bring together humor and just this depth and how he opened up the scriptures and would connect it to everyday life. He's been such a great mentor and the fact that he didn't fire me like multiple times when I worked for him, it's just a Testament to his grace. Vic, remember that time when I borrowed your suburban and almost got arrested for doing donuts on that field at the church summer camp? I mean, I would have fired me. Vic has pastored churches in California, Washington, Texas, and most recently he retired as the senior pastor of Peach Street Church in Atlanta, the largest Presbyterian church in the country. But Vic is a Texan at heart. In fact, he bought me my first pair of cowboy boots when I moved back to Dallas. I'm wearing them right now. Thank you, Vic. He and his wife, Becky, live in Atlanta and he spends as much time as he can with his kids and grandkids. Vic continues to teach and preach all over the country and we are so blessed to have him here at Highland Park this morning.

Every elementary and secondary student spent about one month in their grades and advisory groups to research different countries' interesting facts and cultures such as songs, foods, and clothes. Also, parents prepared their booths full of various countries’ foods and symbols that show the cultures of the countries. Every student, parent and teacher had opportunities to get to know countries that they never knew before. The Student Council provided entertainment by running several game stations in the StuCo Carnival. Students also prepared various countries’ traditional performances under the direction of our YHIS music teacher, Ms. Chaffee. Through the International Day, YHIS students were able to learn and feel unity of the globe through plentiful games, paintings, songs, and performances. Despite the repetition and seeming simplicity of the harmonic progressions in many pop-rock songs, analyzing their form can be difficult. One of these difficulties lies in the terminology used to describe the sections within a song. Specifically, the term “bridge” is troublesome because frequently it does not adequately describe the function of the section it represents. Using the music of Irish group U2, this paper defines and illustrates the “interverse,” a new term for the section traditionally called a “bridge” in pop-rock music, one that more accurately describes how the section relates to immediately preceding and succeeding material, as well as how it functions within the song as a whole. In addition to introducing new terminology, this paper also defines, illustrates, and distinguishes among the traditional sections of a pop-rock song, namely the introduction, verse, chorus, refrain, interlude, transition, and conclusion.
