JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Mock Draft Primary Needs 1 Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson QB OT TE CB 25 Trevon Moehrig S TCU Secondary Needs 33 Tommy Togiai DT Ohio State EDGE S WR RB 45 Rondale Moore WR Purdue 65 Tommy Tremble TE Notre Dame Who calls the shots? HC Urban Meyer and GM Trent Baalke HC: Urban Meyer OC: Darrell Bevell DC: Joe Cullen -- With Ravens in 2020: Favored mix of Cover 1 and Cover 3 Thoughts on potential targets Lawrence is the obvious and safest choice for the Jaguars. He has all the tools you look for in a pocket passer, in addition to above average Trevor Lawrence mobility. It would be fairly surprising if he doesn't go No. 1. Fields ceiling is equal to Lawrence's, but he's slightly less proven as a passer. In any other year, he's a candidate to go No. 1, but probably Justin Fields won't challenge Lawrence for this spot. They're obviously doing their homework on Trey Lance and Zach Wilson, but it's' tough to imagine either getting serious consideration Other QB above Lawrence. In 9 years as Dir. of Player Personnel and GM in SF, Baalke never drafted a CB in the 1st or 2nd round. But they clearly need some upgrades Cornerback in the secondary, so maybe that trend changes with the second pick. Key Notes - Running backs averaged 1.5 yards before contact per attempt, ranked 29th in league (via Sports Info Solutions) - Generated pressure on 18.5% of opponents dropbacks, ranked 28th - Defense ranked 26th in explosive pass rate allowed (9.4% of throws for 20+ yards) - Allowed 8.4 yards per attempt when in man coverage, ranked 32nd (via Sports Info Solutions) - Allowed 9.0 yards per taget to receivers lined up wide, ranked 28th (via Sports Info Solutions) NEW YORK JETS Mock Draft Primary Needs 2 Zach Wilson QB BYU QB WR CB TE EDGE 23 Micah Parsons LB Penn State Secondary Needs 34 Eric Stokes CB Georgia RB LB IOL 66 D'Wayne Eskridge WR Western Michigan 86 Quincy Roche EDGE Miami FL Who calls the shots? GM Joe Douglas and Dir. Player Personnel Chad Alexander HC: Robert Salah -- 49ers DC in 2020: Favored Cover 4, with mix of Cover 1 and Cover 3 OC: Mike LaFleur DC: Jeff Ulbrich -- With Falcons in 2020: Favored mix of Cover 1 and Cover 3 Thoughts on potential targets GM Joe Douglas was with the Eagles when they drafted Wentz, and there's definitely some similarities between Wentz and Fields (at least Wilson/Fields much more so than Wentz/Wilson). But they could certainly fall in love with Wilson's accuracy. If they decide to give Darnold another look, upgrading the offensive line makes sense. Sewell or Slater would pair nicely with Mekhi Becton, Sewell/Slater giving them young bookend tackles. George Fant's contract is easy get out of, so he's not in the way at all. After adding Denzel Mims (pure deep threat) last year, they need either a more well-rounded receiver or a strong option in the slot. This Wide Receiver could be Chase or Smith at No. 2, although unlikely. It could also be someone like Rashod Bateman or Amon-Ra St. Brown at No. 23. Key Notes - Sam Darnold ranked 32nd (out of 35) in on-target rate (via PFRef) - Allowed pressure on 27.6% of QB dropbacks, ranked 30th - Generated pressure on 21.0% of opponents dropbacks, ranked 25th MIAMI DOLPHINS Mock Draft Primary Needs 6 Penei Sewell OT Oregon WR IOL OT RB 18 Azeez Ojulari EDGE Georgia Secondary Needs 36 Najee Harris RB Alabama EDGE LB S 50 Chazz Surratt LB North Carolina 81 Hunter Long TE Boston College Who calls the shots? GM Chris Grier and Assistant GM Marvin Allen HC: Brian Flores OC: DC: Josh Boyer -- Favors mix of Cover 1 and Cover 3 Thoughts on potential targets Improving an adequate but not great offensive line should be the priority to help Tagovailoa develop. Penei Sewell and Rashawn Slater are Offensive Line options at No. 3. This front office is probably smart enough to not reach for a running back in the first round, but it's definitely a need and will likely be Running Back addressed on Day 2. Travis Etienne and Najee Harris are strong possibilities. DeVante Parker should return (although they can escape his contract if they want), but otherwise an overhaul is needed. Parker is probably Wide Receiver better suited as a second option, so Ja'Marr Chase and DeVonta Smith are possible targets, especially if they trade down. Key Notes - Ranked 27th in explosive pass rate (6.7% of throws for 20+ yards) - Tua Tagovailoa ranked 30th (out of 35) in on-target rate (via PFRef) - Defense ranked 28th in explosive pass rate allowed (9.7% of throws for 20+ yards) - Allowed 8.2 yards per attempt when in man coverage, ranked 30th (via Sports Info Solutions) - Allowed 8.9 yards per taget to receivers lined up wide, ranked 27th (via Sports Info Solutions) ATLANTA FALCONS Mock Draft Primary Needs 4 Kyle Pitts TE Florida EDGE LB CB 35 Joseph Ossai EDGE Texas Secondary Needs 68 Dillon Radunz OT North Dakota State QB RB S TE WR Who calls the shots? GM Terry Fontenot and Dir. of Player Personnel Steve Sabo HC: Arthur Smith OC: Dave Ragone DC: Dean Pees -- Last coached with Titans in 2019: Favored mix of Cover 1 and Cover 3 Thoughts on potential targets Matt Ryan doesn't appear to be washed and should have success in Arthur Smith's play action heavy offense, but the Falcons have to Quarterbacks consider Fields/Wilson/Lance while they're drafting in the top five. Takk McKinley was a bust, Dante Fowler was a disappointment this year and edge rusher is their top need. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot to Kwity Paye choose from at the top of the draft. Kwity Paye is probably the only possible target at No. 4. They've invested in a lot in the position, including AJ Terrell in the first round last year, but the 2020 production of Terrell, Oliver and Patrick Surtain II Dennard was disappointing. Surtain looks like an elite prospect and Caleb Farley may generate some interest as well. Key Notes - Picked up 5+ yards on 30.5% on rush attempts, ranked 31st in league (excluding att inside 10-yard line) - Defense ranked 29th in explosive pass rate allowed (10.1% of throws for 20+ yards) CINCINNATI BENGALS Mock Draft Primary Needs 5 Ja'Marr Chase WR LSU WR OT EDGE 38 Wyatt Davis IOL Ohio State Secondary Needs 69 James Hudson OT Cincinnati CB TE LB IOL Who calls the shots? Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin HC: Zac Taylor OC: Brian Callahan DC: Lou Anarumo -- Favors Cover 1 with a mix of Cover 3 and Cover 4 Thoughts on potential targets Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd are probably locked into starting jobs, but they need another weapon in the A.J. Green role. Chase fits much Ja'Marr Chase better into that role than DeVonta Smith, but Smith will certainly be considered. Pairing either Penei Sewell or Rashawn Slater with Jonah Williams to protect Burrow with young bookend tackles will be tempting. Either Sewell/Slater Sewell or Slater would be an obvious upgrade over Bobby Hart at RT. It's hard to justify drafting a TE this high, especially for a rebuliding team. But Pitts is a rare talent, so with Higgins and Boyd already in place, Kyle Pitts maybe they view Pitts as a more valuable addition than the top WRs. Key Notes - Ranked 32nd in explosive pass rate (5.6% of throws for 20+ yards) - Running backs averaged 1.7 yards before contact per attempt, ranked 26th in league (via Sports Info Solutions) - Generated pressure on 18.3% of opponents dropbacks, ranked 29th - Run Defense: Allowed 5.7 yards per attempt outside the tackles, ranked 31st (via Sports Info Solutions) - Defense ranked 30th in explosive pass rate allowed (10.2% of throws for 20+ yards) PHILADELHIA EAGLES Mock Draft Primary Needs 12 DeVonta Smith WR Alabama CB WR LB S 37 Pat Freiermuth TE Penn State Secondary Needs 70 Robert Rochell CB Central Arkansas OT IOL EDGE 84 Baron Browning LB Ohio State Who calls the shots? GM Howie Roseman HC: Nick Sirianni OC: Shane Steichen DC: Jonathan Gannon - Colts DB Coach in 2020: Favored Cover 3 and Cover 2, played 5th lowest rate of man coverage Thoughts on potential targets If they're building around Hurts, he'll need some help. Chase seems like a better fit than DeVonta Smith based on last year's selection of the Ja'Marr Chase undersized Jaelen Reagor. Jason Peters might return, but that's obviously a very short term solution. Lane Johnson returns, but he'll be 31 and the injuries are piling Sewell/Slater up. Either Sewell or Slater would be a justified selection. This is the most glaring need on defense and must be addressed in FA or early in the draft. Patrick Surtain and Caleb Farley are both Cornerback possibilities at No. 6. If the Eagles go a "best available player" route, Micah Parsons and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah should be on their radar. Each linebacker Linebacker spot could use an upgrade, so both players will be fits. Key Notes - Ranked 28th in explosive pass rate (6.5% of throws for 20+ yards) - Allowed pressure on 26.8% of QB dropbacks, ranked 28th - Dallas Goedert led team with 7 rec of 20+ yards (lowest number by a team leader) - Allowed 45.1% completion pct on throws 20+ yards downfield, ranked 26th (via Sports Info Solutions) - Allowed 8.2 yards per attempt when in man coverage, ranked 29th (via Sports Info Solutions) - Allowed 9.8 yards per taget to receivers lined up wide, ranked 31st (via Sports Info Solutions) DETROIT LIONS Mock Draft Primary Needs 7 Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama WR EDGE CB DT 41 Jamin Davis LB Kentucky Secondary Needs 72 Amon-Ra St.
