MILNGAVIE WESTERTON & ABOUT THIS TRAIL From Gavin’s Mill head northwest through DISTANCE: 6.8km DISTANCE: 6.5km Milngavie town centre and join the West Highland Way, pass Milngavie Library to take the next left at the track junction. Following the Allander Water for 500m N N passing the bridge and continuing to the Y-junction, take the fork to the right. Head uphill and leaving the woodland to emerge onto a moorland with open views. At the T-junction turn left to follow the track over the hill to the north then east to emerge at Mugdock Road. The trail route goes left along the west side of Mugdock reservoir and continues in a clockwise direction to loops around the between the two reservoirs. The route returns down the reservoir access road onto Mugdock Road to return to Milngavie. Taking the second right onto KEY Tannoch Drive and follow round to right, then right again onto Buchanan Street to continue downhill. On meeting Station Start/End 1 Heritage Road the trail route can be followed to the railway station and then Lennox Park.

Artwork Trail Hub WESTERTON & BEARSDEN From Westerton Railway Station, turn left up Maxwell Avenue travelling north. Viewpoint Opposite Westerton Library carpark, take the footpath leading east uphill towards the Primary School, emerging at the Westerton HERITAGE TALES Parish Church. Take Westfield Crescent towards Cairnhill Woods, where a loop can MILNGAVIE be walked before returning to Westerton 1 Gavin’s Mill Library. Travel north on Maxwell Avenue, 2 Colpis Ice Cream at the top of the hill turn right along 3 Clober Road Laundry Canniesburn Road, then take the second left 4 The Black Bull & Town Clock onto Rubislaw Drive. At Pendicle Road turn 5 Elangowan Paper Mill Site right, then right again onto Station Road. 6 Flexible Ducting Factory From Bearsden Railway Station, the 7 Reservoirs and Waterworks route turns left onto Drymen Road to 8 Tannoch Loch Bearsden Cross passing the war memorial. 9 Lillie Art Gallery Cross the road after the Library and Community Hub, then take the second HERITAGE TALES right onto Manse Road. Turn left to WESTERTON & BEARSDEN follow Gartconnell Road, emerging on North Grange Road turn right towards 1 Westerton –A Garden Suburb Kilmardinny Loch. 2 Westerton Fairlie Parish Church Follow the south edge of the Loch to 3 Cairnhill Wood join Kilmardinny Avenue via a small car 4 Community Hall and Library park and head sharply to the right heading 5 Garden Suburb uphill. The trail continues south down 6 Arts and Crafts Listed Buildings Kilmardinny Avenue taking a sharp right 7 Former site of Canniesburn Hospital onto Manse Road, travelling on this road 8 St Germain’s Loch for a short distance before turning left onto 9 Sandeman House Grange Road. 10 Bearsden Bowling Club When Grange Road meets Roman 11 Bearsden Train Station Road, take a right and travel along this 12 New Kilpatrick Church road, taking in views of the Roman Baths 13 Kilmardinny House and Barracks Ruins before heading back 14 Roman Road towards Bearsden town centre and to the 15 Roman Baths and Barracks railway station.
