Il lucky loser, negli ottavi di finale, darà vita ad una sfida tutta italiana con Marco Crugnola, vittorioso in 3 set su Michael Lammer. Nel parziale decisivo il varesino ha strappato il servizio al rivale nel primo gare, ma nel quarto ha subito il controbreak. Nel settimo e nel nono gioco Crugnola ha nuovamente brekkato lo svizzero, imponendosi 6/3.
