Communiqué #MC 525C-003 Serial Number - 0001 and On April 2020 ATA 31 – Aircraft Recording System Software

Aircraft Recording System (AReS) is a digital data recorder that captures aircraft subsystem data whenever the aircraft is powered on, whether the aircraft is in flight or on the ground. The data captured may be an important asset while troubleshooting faults on the aircraft.

To interact with the AReS data, you will need the AReS View software on your computer. AReS View may be used to look at both real-time and recorded data in support of troubleshooting. The software may also be used for configuring the AReS box, adjusting Wi-Fi settings, adding passwords, and downloading historical data. The AReS View software is only compatible on Windows based computers.

The AReS View software is regularly updated to fix any defects that are found or add improvements as technology allows. If you do not currently have or need AReS view software on your computer, you do not have to install the newest version software on your computer. Installation of AReS view computer software is not mandatory.

How do I know if AReS View computer software is installed on my computer? To verify AReS View is installed, type “ares” into the start or if you see the AReS View shown below, then the software already installed onto the computer.

Do I have the latest version of AReS View software? To find out what AReS View software version you have, double click on the AReS View icon located on your desktop. When the program launches, a splash screen will display that looks like the image below:

The current software version will be in the center of the splash screen below the words AReS View. The number shown in the image will be 9988301-XX. The number listed in place of the - XX corresponds to the current software version installed on your computer. In the example above, the AReS View software is version 17.

If interested in updating / installing the AReS View software on your computer: In most situations, if there is an update available, when the AReS View software is launched it will ask if you want to update the software. In some situations, we found the software is not always auto updating. One example of when the software will not auto update is if the computer is not connected to the internet when the program is launched. To manually update AReS view software perform the following actions: Log into the Textron Aviation customer support http://www.txtavsupport.com by entering your user name and password. If you currently do not have a TXTAV user name and / or password, click on “Register” to the right side of the screen to get access. (NOTE: Access to the customer support website is free, however approval is required to be granted prior to accessing the website). Once logged onto the customer support website, under MY MODELS section on the left-hand side of the screen, select your aircraft model. Under MAINTENANCE INFORMATION section in the middle column of the screen, select Maintenance Software . Select the AReS View Data Analysis software hyperlink. There are directions for installing the software on this screen along with a hyperlink (shown below in blue font) for the AReS view computer software. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to download the AReS view software.
