ATHLETIC FOUNDATION

MEMBERSHIP GUIDE MESSAGE FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Thank you for your support of the Charlotte 49ers! This membership guide outlines the mission of the Athletic Foundation and the benefits of being a member. Before coming on board, I spoke with people throughout the conference and across the nation, and their assessment was clear -- this is a program with a strong foundation and gold mine potential. Since my arrival, I’ve been visited by friends and colleagues who were able to see campus for the first time – and they have been blown away. What we have here, and what we should be proud of, rivals the campuses and facilities of many schools in “Power Five” conferences. We offer more than beautiful surroundings, though, because in the end, it’s always about our student-athletes. Our track and field team took the lead by winning Conference USA Championships in women’s cross-country, men’s indoor track and men’s outdoor track. Four track and field athletes earned NCAA all-America honors, along with women’s cross country runner Caroline Sang, who claimed both the C-USA and NCAA Southeast Region individual titles. Three student- athletes -- softball’s Haley Pace and Bailey Rhoney and men’s soccer’s Callum Montgomery -- were named CoSIDA Academic all-Americans for displaying excellence on the field and in the classroom. Our student-athletes donated over a record 5,000 hours of community service. In the classroom, we had a Conference USA-high 74 student-athletes earn the Commissioner’s Academic Medal with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better. That is the Gold Standard we speak of – and strive for every single day. Eleven of our programs finished in the top four in Conference USA, with six claiming championships or runner- up finishes. Our goal is to grow that success and spread it across all of our units. As I’ve said before, we are not in it to be ordinary. We’re in it to be extraordinary. Excellence is our goal. The Gold Standard applies to each and every facet of our program. We want the best for our student-athletes, our coaches and our fans. And we want our fans to celebrate our successes and share in those golden moments. Our success is your success. This is your program. My personal goal is to see that we grow stronger together. It’s time that we realize our full potential instead of just talking about it. We can do this -- we will do this -- together. I hope you will take some time to read through this membership guide for the Athletic Foundation, and I hope you choose to be part of Niner Nation. Thank you again for your kindness and support, and Go Niners!

Sincerely, Mike Hill Director of Athletics Mission Statement The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation provides scholarship assistance to over 400 male and female student-athletes in 18 varsity sports. All contributions to the 49er Club are considered gifts to the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation and are credited at full value for purposes of the member’s Athletic Foundation record. Additionally, amounts contributed to the 49er Club to guarantee seating at Stadium in the Green Tier and Gold Tier FSL sections are considered a benefit to the FSL holder and do not qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes.
