BLUE JACKETS NOTES THROUGH 22 Columbus has earned points in 17 of its first 22 games of the season (13-5-4), including points in nine of the last 10 contests (7-1-2) and in 14 of the past 16 (11-2-3) following Thursday’s win at Colorado. The 30 points are most points recorded through the first 22 games of a campaign in club history, surpassing the 28 points posted in 2010-11 (14-8-0. The 13 victories, meanwhile, are the second most through the first 22 games. The five regulation losses are the fewest recorded in the first 22 contests, surpassing the seven losses in 2009-10 (11-7-3).

BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN The Jackets are second in the NHL in goals scored per game (3.18), trailing only the NY Rangers (3.64). On the flip side, the club ranks fifth in allowing 2.23 goals a game. San Jose leads the league with a 2.08 goals against average. Through the first 22 games this season, the Blue Jackets boast a +21-goal differential (70-49; not incl. goals from SO), the second best differential in the league (NY Rangers at +29). Last season, the team had a -16 goal differential (55-71) through the first 22 contests. Columbus has scored at least three goals in 13 games and allowed two goals or less in 14 contests.

SHOTS! (AND LIMITING THEM) After being outshot by opponents in 12 of their first 15 games, the Jackets have outshot opponents in seven-straight contests (249-166; 35.6-23.7). The club has recorded 34 or more shots in each of the past six contents (37.7 avg.) while allowing 24.2 shots over that same span (+13.5 shots a game). The Jackets, in fact, have held opponents to less than 30 shots in nine-straight contests (23.9 avg.).

HITTING DECEMBER After a successful November, the Jackets began their 14-game December schedule with a 3-2 win in Colorado on Thursday. The club plays eight games on the road and six at home. Columbus’ longest homestand of the month is three games (Dec. 20-23) while the team also has a three-game road trip to western Canada (Dec. 13-18). The Blue Jackets will see two back-to-back situations, playing Dec. 9- 10 and Dec. 22-23. Last season, the team went 4-7-3 (11 points) while they posted a 10-1-1 record (21 points) in Dec. 2014.

NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER The Jackets went 9-2-3 in the month of November. The nine victories and 21 points were the most in the month in club history, surpassing the 19 points recorded in Nov. 2009 (7-4-3) and the eight wins in Nov. 2010 (8-4-0) and Nov. 2015 (8-5-0). The 21 points, in fact, are tied for the third best singular month in club history (10-1-1 in Dec. 2014), trailing the 24 points recorded in Mar. 2013 (10-2-4) and 22 points in Mar. 2015 (11-4-0).

THE ROAD Last Friday’s game in Tampa began a road heavy schedule from Nov. 25-Dec. 18. Tuesday’s rematch vs. the Lightning was the only home game during a five-game stretch (Nov. 25-Dec. 3) and just one of three of 11 games to be played at Nationwide Arena. The road schedule includes stops in Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Michigan and western Canada. The club is riding a four-game road point streak (3-0-1) and is 4-1-2 in the past eight road contests.

OUT OF THE GATES The Jackets have scored the first goal of the game in 16 of their 22 contests (11-2-3). The club has only failed to score first vs. Calgary and at Florida last week, in both games vs. the Capitals (Nov. 15 and 20) as well as both games vs. the Sharks (Oct. 15 and 27). They are second-T in the NHL in games scoring first this season (Montreal), trailing only Washington (17).

BOB’S ON THE CASE Leading the way for the Jackets is goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who is 11-2-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average, .9310 save percentage, two shutouts and has allowed two goals or less in 11 of his past 14 contests. He is 13-3-2 with a 1.91 goals-against average, .933 save percentage, three shutouts and has allowed two goals or less in 14 of his past 18 games. He is tied for the league lead in wins (13; Carey Price) and is second-T in shutouts (three).

GROUP EFFORT ON OFFENSE The Jackets boast three players with at least 20 points and eight players with 10 or more points. They are tied for the league lead with three 20-point scorers (Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh & Winnipeg). Atkinson (8-13-21) is 14th-T in the NHL in scoring and 11th-T in points per game (.95 in more than five games played) while Nick Foligno (9-11-20) and Alexander Wennberg (5-15-20) are 14th-T (.91). Brandon Saad (7-18-19), who has 3-2-5 in the past four games, has six multi-point contests to his credit. Rookie D Zach Werenski, who captured NHL Rookie of the Month honors (3-7-10 in 14 games) is eighth among all NHL defensemen in points (5-11-16). Sam Gagner (7-5-12) has 7-4-11 in the last 15 games. Scott Hartnell has 5-9-14 in the past 21 games while Josh Anderson reached the mark (7-3- 10) with his second three-point effort (1-2-3) of the campaign Tuesday.
