UNITED STATES AIR FORCE F-35A OPERATIONAL BEDDOWN AIR NATIONAL GUARD ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT The National Guard Bureau (NGB) has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to eValuate the potential environmental consequences that could result from the proposed beddown of F-35A aircraft. The NGB proposes to beddown 18 F-35A aircraft at two of fiVe alternatiVe locations: 115th Fighter Wing at Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin; 124th Fighter Wing at Boise Airport in Boise, Idaho; 125th Fighter Wing at Jacksonville International Airport in Jacksonville, Florida; 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan; and 187th Fighter Wing at Montgomery Regional Airport in Montgomery, Alabama. Based on an eValuation of operational parameters, on December 21, 2017, the Secretary of the Air Force announced two preferred alternatiVes for the 5th and 6th F-35A Operational Beddown as the 115th Fighter Wing at Dane County Regional Airport, Madison, Wisconsin; and the 187th Fighter Wing at Montgomery Regional Airport, Montgomery, Alabama. The Draft EIS is a comprehensiVe document that contains an in-depth description of the proposed action and alternatiVes, technical descriptions of the existing conditions, and quantitatiVe and qualitatiVe analyses of projected environmental impacts from implementing the proposed aircraft conVersion at any of the alternatiVe locations. Washington Ave., Madison, WI 53704; and Pinney Library, 204 Cottage GroVe Rd., Madison, WI 53716 The public comment period began on August 9, 2019, providing the public an opportunity to review the Draft EIS and comment on the analysis. A public meeting was held on September 12, 2019 in Madison at the Alliant Energy Center, where the public had the opportunity to meet with Air National Guard members, discuss the proposal, and provide public comment. THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 1, 2019. Public comments received by November 1, 2019 will be considered in the preparation of the Final EIS. Comments receiVed after the close of the public comment period will be reviewed, but may not be specifically addressed in the Final EIS.
