1.0 INTRODUCTION:

The applicant, Thiru M.Karikalan S/o Mullaivendan residing at, No. 87/10, Thiru.Vi.Ka. Nagar, Harur, Dharmapuri district has been granted quarry lease for 10 years from 24.09.2010 to 23.09.2020 under Roc.No.147/2010 (Mines) dated 13.06.2010 and the lease was executed on 24.09.2010 for quarrying rough stone at S.F.No.18 (P), over an extent of 3.28.0Hectares, poramboke land located in Polayamballi Village of Harur Taluk, Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu. The production capacity is proposed as 55466m3/annum. Manager will be appointed and he will be provided with suitable communication facilities. Primary Health centre is available in for medical emergencies, about 6 kms away from the mine.

1.2 Care and Maintenance during temporary discontinuance:

Watch and ward are provided permanently in the Mine premises to monitor the Mine openings to prevent inadvertent entry. Top soil bund is made partly and Stone fencing is proposed all around lease boundary to safe guard the mine and the adjacent livings. Temporary discontinuance will be minimum as there is enough demand for these materials in tiles industries.

2.0. MINE CLOSURE PLAN:

2.1 Steps proposed for phased restoration, reclamation of already mined-out areas:

Humus top soil shall be used for afforestation purpose. In case of steep slopes, fencing shall be made to control the inadvertent entry of animals and local people.

2.2 Measures to be under taken on mine closure as per Act & Rules:

S2 fencing shall be constructed at the top of high benches in order to safe guard the unauthorized entry of men and machinery. In the case of entry and exit of pit(s), G1 fencing as a parapet should be made to control tress passes. It is proposed to plant 20 trees per annum during the mining plan period as described in the land and afforestation plan.

2.3 Mitigation measures to be undertaken for safety and restoration / reclamation of the already mined-out area:

The area applied for quarrying lease was already leased out for quarrying rough- stone to the applicant. As the quarrying operation is likely to be continued in the existing area, mining should be undertaken by adhering the stipulated bench parameters to be adopted on safety and scientific point of view.

2.4 Any other details intend to furnish by the applicant:

The mining plan proposed has fully covered the aspects of granite conservation with a future plan to extend the proposed working of the mine to maximum of possible depth of the depth of the deposit. Extreme care will be taken to aim at the recovery of maximum quantity of the material.

2.5 Statutory provisions:

Provisions of the Mines Act, Rules and Regulations orders made there under shall be complied with, so that the safety of the mine, machinery and persons will be ensured. Permission, relaxation or exemption wherever required for the safe and scientific mining of the deposit will be obtained from the Department of Mine Safety.

Certified that the mining plan has been prepared in accordance with the mine Act, Rules and Regulations and orders made there-under and also in conformity with the provisions of the Granite Conservation and Development Rules, 1999.
