Please respect your competitor’s play along with everyone’s time commitment. We all would like to know how long we will be on the golf course so we can plan the remainder of our day so we are encouraging everyone to do their part. The changes that we are pronouncing for the 2010 season are not going to change the checkpoint and penalty structure. The enhancements are just added as a means to help players keep track where they stand in relation to pace of play. First we will print the times you should finish each hole above each hole number on every players scorecard. Your official starting time will be pronounced to you on the first hole. If your starting time was scheduled to be 10:00 and your official time was 10:03 then we ask you to please keep track on your scorecard. The second measure is that we will place synchronized atomic clocks on holes #1, 4, 7, 9, 13, 16, and 18 so you may be able to measure your progress throughout your round. The third item that we are going to put in play is the use of marshals to identify gaps on the golf course. These marshals are only to check what time you started and where you are within the pace structure. People usually associate gaps on the golf course as means to identify slow play individuals so we will use this as a means of monitoring groups that may have issues early so as not to lose the day in terms of pace. They are not there to assign penalties but only as the courtesy to let you know where you stand. Please give them the respect of doing their job. These individ- uals are not the police in our tournaments, only friendly reminders. We believe that by providing you all of these tools for assistance that we do not have to have 18 offi- cials, one per hole, but that we will have 100+ officials since each of you is responsible to make the pace of play work within your organization. The Michigan Publinx Board of Directors would like to encourage your support of our policy as we strive to provide you an enjoyable golfing experience. It is our goal to become the leading organization in terms of pace of play better than the GAM and the USGA that cur- rently are the standard bearer.
