The Dave Phillips Memorial Run Will Take Place in New Brighton at 0900Hrs on Sunday 13Th December 2015 Dave Phillips Memorial Run Registration The Dave Phillips Memorial Run will take place in New Brighton at 0900hrs on Sunday 13th December 2015. This is a pre-registered event and no ‘on the day’ registration will be accepted. 1 Dave Phillips Memorial Run Registration Before you leave home Don’t forget your running/walking trainers/shoes, warm clothing. It will no doubt be very cold so we recommend gloves and hats to be brought with you. There will be a raffle with some fantastic donations of prizes so bring a small amount of change too. All proceedings will go directly to the official Just Giving fund to support Dave’s family. You have all registered and agreed to the contents of the disclaimer by attending. Get to the Start in Plenty of Time Give yourself plenty of time to arrive, registration will take place within the Light Cinema, New Brighton, CH45 2HZ between 0645 and 0830hrs, this will enable you to get to the start time promptly. Public Transport doesn’t start until around 0800hrs on a Sunday and you may miss the registration time. If this is your only means of travel, then your registration/T-Shirts will be at the start line and can be collected after registration closes. You must bring with you a signed disclaimer which can be found on the website www.davephillipsmemorialrun.com and upon receipt of that you will be provided with a t-shirt in the size you requested. Desks will be split alphabetically by surname. Health and Safety A verbal safety briefing will be read to all participants at the start line. The event will be supported by St Johns Ambulance who will be present throughout. We strongly recommend that you do not run whilst using personal audio equipment. This is to keep you aware of any instructions passed by stewards, marshals or Police. This is for your safety and the safety of those around you. The website www.runnersmedicalresource.com provides additional safety information. Running and Timing Chips There will be a timing clock at the finish point. Race numbers will be issued at registration. There will be no timing chips available. 2 Dave Phillips Memorial Run Registration Travelling by Car From Liverpool Enter the Wallasey Mersey Tunnel (Kingsway Entrance) which is a Toll Road with a cost of £1.70 in each direction. On exiting the tunnel, take the A5027 towards the Docks. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to GORSEY LANE/A5027 Continue on the A5027 for 0.7 miles before turning left in to MILL LANE/A5088 After 0.3 miles, the road will become ST ALBANS ROAD/A551 After 0.2 miles, turn right in to WALLASEY ROAD/A551 Continue in to LISCARD VILLAGE/B5143 and remain on this road for 1 mile Turn left on to ROWSON STREET/A554 and as you enter the roundabout, MARINE POINT and the LIGHT CINEMA will be straight ahead. From Chester direction using the M53 Follow M53 motorway in the direction of Liverpool. Leave at Junction 1 showing directions to Wallasey/Birkenhead At the roundabout, take the 1st exit on to A554 At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to HARRISON DRIVE/A554 At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit on to KING’S PARADE/A554 Continue on KING’S PARADE/A554 for approximately half a mile and you will reach MARINE POINT and the LIGHT CINEMA. Travelling By Public Transport Public Transport doesn’t start until around 0800hrs on a Sunday and you may miss the registration time. If this is your only means of travel, then your registration/T-Shirts will be at the start line and can be collected after registration closes. Parking in New Brighton There are numerous parking spaces at New Brighton on the front which are all free of charge. There are no time restrictions on the promenade for parking. There are restrictions on residential streets. Please park sensibly and take into consideration local resident’s driveways. 3 Dave Phillips Memorial Run Registration Venue Facilities There are a number of venues who have agreed to open up early for us and they include Light Cinema 06:30 La Tasca 07:00 Costa Coffee 07:00 Wetherspoons 07:00 Marino Lounge 07:00 Prezzo 07:00 Starbucks Coffee 07:00 Pizza Express 07:00 Hungry Horse 07:00 Subway 08:00 The Start There will be ‘portaloos’ located near the start line. Runners will form up at the front, followed by joggers, then walkers and then families with prams/children on bikes. The raffle will be held at the Floral Pavilion at around 13:00, on the ground floor at the front of the building. Unfortunately we are unable to post the raffle prizes. Distance Markers There will be fluorescent kilometre markers along the course concluding in 6554 at the end. These will be generally on the left hand side in front of the benches at waist height. Water Stations There will be water stations along the route positioned at Maddock Street and at the half way mark. Volunteers There will be many volunteers who have generously given their time to assist along the course both prior to, during and after the event. They are there to help make the race safe. If you have some spare energy, please don’t forget to give them the odd wave or ‘thank you’. Spectator Locations The promenade has several grassed areas opposite the river for spectators to stand and support the event, these can be accessed through the many side roads on Seabank Road and Brighton Street. At the Finish Line Cross the line, give yourself a clap and be proud that you have supported the event. Please try to keep moving in the finish area – many participants will be near the finish line. Medical assistance will be located nearby if needed.
