Seller Insight

The present owners, Jeff and Lea, were searching for a property with a rural, but not isolated, position, manageable land and easy access to facilities. They were delighted to find White Risings, a charming property standing in an acre of garden with an adjoining field, and close to the riverside Georgian town of . There is a wide choice of good schools in nearby and Worcester. Twenty years later they continue to love the house and location.

Jeff explains that White Risings began life as a late Victorian cottage. They added a sympathetic extension to create a modern kitchen with master bedroom suite above, while modernising the existing property.

The kitchen is a sociable area, with a great wow factor. It is the ideal place to settle round the central island for relaxed meals and has an unrivalled backdrop of far stretching views across the serene Worcestershire countryside to Abberley Hill. It is complete relaxation to watch the ever changing skies and seasons from the comfort of a cosy sofa. And in the summer you can step onto the patio for outside dining.

The dining room opens out through patio doors into the conservatory which also enjoys harmony with the landscape and is where a fifty five year old grape vine adds great character to the room. Lea particularly loves the library, where there is an intriguing Gothic stained glass transom window set above the door and in the side window.

Two lounges allow everyone to have their own space, and the beams add personality to these very comfortable areas. They have south-east facing windows ensuring a bright and positive ambience.

The calm, private garden with lawns and shrubbery is easily maintained and a superb entertaining venue. A pizza oven sits by an attractive gazebo, and it has been the scene of much fun, with everyone making their own pizza. For a birthday celebration, a marquee was erected in the field: when a hundred friends were easily accommodated with no parking problems. The orchard and vegetable plot produce a good annual harvest. With sightings of deer, pheasant, owls and badgers, this calm haven is a nature lover’s paradise. The area is well provided with activities, with many pretty walks in the Wye Forest, cycling routes, an equestrian centre, golf clubs, the Safari Park and the Severn Valley Railway.

Jeff and Lea will take away happy memories of life at White Risings. They are sure the next owners will love it as much.*
