Message from the President

The year seems to have passed by so quickly and now my term as President has ended. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to the Board of Directors, our Members and my family and friends for all their support.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as President, having had the opportunity to represent the club at all the District events as well as our District Convention in Penang. These events were full of fun and fellowship and left me with many warm memories.

This year our Club has accomplished a lot. We organised two important projects- the first was Building Fund Charity Dinner held at the Chakri Palace , which raised over six four thousand Ringgit. The other was our fifth annual Fun Run which, I am glad to say, attracted nearly 1,000 participants. I wish to convey my special thanks mainly to Yonne Ong and our newest members Olivia and Rodney and Lalitha for leading the project. Many thanks go to all of our members and supporters as well as our kind donors. Their support and hard work made the event an unqualified success.

We must be reminded that our own Down Syndrome Centre has an annual budget of over 200,000 Ringgit to cover its annual operating costs, so it is important that our club members focus and work together as a team to achieve these fund raising goals.

Why do we join Kiwanis? To serve the children of the world and serve our local community. And in doing so enrich our lives. Alone we can barely achieve much, but as a team we can conquer the world.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome and congratulate our newly elected President, Olivia Chin together with her Board of Directors. Olivia, do enjoy your year in office as I have just done and take the club to new level of success.

Kind regards, Amanda Russell President 2018-19

Message from the Incoming President

Dear Friends

Firstly, a big "Thank You!!" to the Members of The Kiwanis Club of for entrusting me to be their President for the 2019-2020 term. I will do my very best to ensure we uphold the great culture and tradition that has been nurtured for over 2 decades.

To our outgoing President, Amanda may I say that its going to be tough to match what you have achieved in the 2018-19 administrative year. Thank you for a great year and I've learnt a lot over the last few events we did together.

The Kiwanis Club comprises an amazing group of people, who put others above themselves, to serve the Children of the World, starting from just Children who need assistance nearby. It’s been a real pleasure and privilege to have had the opportunity to work with these people, who do not get paid for their efforts, but only find pleasure in seeing children grow up to have a better life.

Being committed is never easy. They all have to forgo time with their own families to serve the children in our community. Having said that, these people are really a special breed which the world needs more of.

I've learnt more than just giving and serving in Kiwanis. I've learnt to run meetings with proper governance and leadership. I've learnt that no matter how great we are individually, many things are not achievable without a great team.

With this, I want to salute the entire team in the Kiwanis Club of Klang and I urge those who are wanting to be part of a great team to join us, to serve the Children of the World.

Let’s have another great year ahead!

Yours Truly, Olivia Chin President 2019-2020 Page 4
