Emerging Public Leaders of Cohort 3 Fellows Bios

Albert Osei is a 2020 graduate of the University of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Geomatic Engineering. Through virtual internship programs with Boston Consulting Group, John Holland and the New South Wales Government in , he has gained experience in the review of subcontractor rates, stakeholder , developing and communicating policy ideas, data analysis and among others. He also interned with the Lands Commission in Accra as a Junior Examination Officer under the Survey and Mapping Division. Albert holds a Diploma in French Language Studies and has certifications from the Leadership Development Program and the Communication Training Module by the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan. He aspires to leverage his ingenuity and agile skills in developing sustainable solutions through Energy and Mining policy implementation.

Love Ntumy is a graduate of University of Ghana with a BSc in Administration with a major in . Her four year journey with the university ended in 2020. With her passion to make the world a better place, she volunteers with Manna Foundation, a Non-Profit Organisation which provides vocational skills to less privileged girls in Ghana. Having a background in accounting which has a core value of integrity, she seeks to create accountable advocacy and aspires to be the first female Minister of in Ghana.

Zing Yinpang Bavi Micah is a graduate from the University for Development Studies, UDS-Wa campus, 2020, where he pursued Bachelor of Science in Development Management. He worked with the Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Organizational Development (CIKOD) as an intern in 2019. He also worked as a community researcher under the UDS Third Trimester Field Practical Programme (TTFPP) in Gadi, a community under Wa-West of the Upper West Region of Ghana in 2018. He again served as a volunteer in Make a Difference (MAD) where he worked as a program manager in 2016 among other working experiences. He aspires to become an Archimedes in research and community development activities to assist policy makers with creating vibrant government policies that can spur socio-economic development within Ghana and beyond.

Juliana Oheneba Okorm is a final year student at the University For Development Studies where she is studying Bachelor of Science in Development Management and will be graduating in November 2020. She has interned at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Wa), Gbewaa Chambers which is a firm and worked shortly as a verification Officer for electoral commission in 2015. As part of her academic activities, she undertook community work which is popularly known as the Third Trimester Field Practical Programme (TTFPP) in Sombo, a community in the Upper West Region of Ghana. She holds on to values of commitment, diligence and professionalism in all her endeavors. She believes she is a catalyst for organizational growth and seeks to stand right with God and man in her dealings.

Hocket Apersil graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2020. He holds an in Agribusiness Management. Hocket desires to make Ghana a better place for all and the world at large. He aspires to become the next Ghanaian UN Secretary General after his mentor, Kofi Annan. He dreams to become one of the greatest entrepreneurs of impact in the real estate and agribusiness industries. Hocket was an active member of the KNUST Peer counselors’ group. He served as the General Secretary for the Smithtips Club for two years. He interned at E-Juice company limited as a Marketing Manager and ECASARD Ghana as human resource officer in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Hocket was adjudged the best participant in the district health workshop organized by the Youth Employment Agency in the Pru – East district. He contributed to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations through his volunteerism during the tree planting exercise organized by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ghana Association of Student planners and the Students Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Jennifer Amuah is a MasterCard Foundation scholar and a 2020 graduating student of the University of Ghana where she read Bachelor of Arts in . She also studied Transformative Leadership at the University of Edinburgh where she learnt how various economies can use existing tools to maximize growth. Jennifer is the co-founder of the United Kings Club, a non- governmental organization that seeks to empower youths in Africa and beyond. With her dedication and hardwork to make the world a better place she was a panellist at the African Women’s Leadership Conference in Massachusetts, USA and also a participant at the United Nations’ Youth-Led State of the World Population (2019). She interned with Baobab at Arizona State University where she gained skills in social media marketing and community development. Jennifer is interested in international relations and development and seeks to give back to her community as such.

Abdul Gafaru Dasana Amin graduated from the University for Development Studies with a BSc. in Computing with Accounting. He is a very determined and passionate individual who leverages on opportunities to promote the ideals of transformational leadership through and Volunteerism. Abdul Gafaru is a founding member of Imperishable Limited Liability Company, a startup in Sierra Leone and Ghana that uses solar drying technology to help alleviate post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetables. Together with his multi-national team, he was a winner of Season 3 of the Presidential Pitch, organized by the Ministry of Business Development. Abdul Gafaru’s passion for social entrepreneurship has propelled him into seeking a Post Graduate Studies in Entrepreneurship and Innovation with the aim of becoming the bridge between inventive ideas and entrepreneurial innovations that serves the interest of the public and causes breakthroughs in the African economies. His aim for joining the Civil Service of Ghana is to be a representative of the ordinary innovator through effective policy implementation in the entrepreneurial space.

Hanifa Abdulai graduated in 2020 from the University for Development Studies, with a Bachelor of Science in Development Management. She is passionate about impacting people’s lives directly and diversely through strategic policy planning and effective project management. Hanifa proposed interventions for business enterprises through the review of their business plans in the Upper West Region in 2020 and served as an intern at the Regional Planning and Coordinating Unit of the Regional Coordinating Council in 2019. She also partook in the National Youth Authority’s Youth and Mentors Achievers Awards in 2018. She aspires to be a professional project manager and planner in the future.

Fidelis Kwadwo Ankomah graduated in 2020 from the University of Ghana with a first-class degree in Bachelor of Science in Administration (Accounting). During his study at the University of Ghana, Fidelis took a lot of leadership roles including the President of the Accounting Students’ Association, Audit Board Member of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council, Endowment Fund Board Member of the Business House Junior Common Room, University of Ghana and other student boards and committees. Prior to joining the EPL fellowship, Fidelis worked with both local and international organisations among which include the Ghana Audit Service and Grant Thornton LLP in Australia. Fidelis is passionate about fighting corruption in Africa and personally, believes that every individual must live a livelihood beyond subsistence as such there must be equal opportunity and equitable support for every individual to develop. He aspires to be an expert in finance and corporate governance and to use his expertise in supporting government and private organisations in policy formulation and implementation with regards to the field of accounting, economies, finance and corporate governance.

Jemima Keren Gyamfi is a graduate of the University of Ghana with a degree in Accounting, having successfully completed her undergraduate study in July 2020. As a result of her undergraduate study and previous work experiences, she developed a deep understanding of business and this exposed her to the possibility of combining her knowledge in accounting and audit to promote accountability and transparency in public , ensuring an efficient and a sound public financial management system. She aspires to be the first female Auditor-General in Ghana. Jemima is passionate about advocating for the socially marginalized and therefore works with various non-governmental organizations like Tech Era to provide support to the visually impaired, ensuring they gain access to quality education and training that will better position them to leverage on available opportunities. Having served in various leadership roles, she is committed to helping bridge the gender gap and ensuring the full participation of women in formulating policies that will help shape the future of Ghana and the world at large in areas of financial accountability, environmental sustainability and the rights of women and children.

Clement Acquah graduated in 2020 from the University of Ghana with a Bachelor of Science in (Accounting). Clement is an avid networker and a high-spirited individual with keen interest in finance, accounting and technology. He is passionate about becoming an exceptional Chartered Accountant and a dedicated Public Leader with the values of integrity, transparency, accountability and professionalism as his hallmark. Clement aspires to become the next Managing Director and Chairman of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He is committed and dedicated to self-development, self- discovery and service in humility. Clement has served on many student leadership boards including being an executive member of the Audit board of Commonwealth Hall, Head of the Central Planning Committee of UGBS. His propensity to adjust and adapt quickly to changing work environments, acquire more knowledge and skills earned him an internship opportunity at Xpress Gas Ltd and the Ghana Armed Forces.

Joycelyn Ohene Agyekum graduated from the University of Cape Coast in 2020. She read Bachelor of in Accounting. She had her internships at SICLife Company Limited, a life company in Ghana and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the public broadcaster in Ghana. Joycelyn is currently a fellow of the Cohort 3 of the Emerging Public Leaders of Ghana. This fellowship granted her the opportunity to work as a civil servant which she loves. She had the privilege to be a steward for she found herself and has delivered credibly. She has a positive attitude toward work and good time management skills. These skills have made her efficient at what she does.She is diligent, humble and always stays positive. Joycelyn aspires to be an auditor and the Minister of Finance in years to come. Joycelyn believes that life is an opportunity for all and we should embrace the challenges it throws at us, push hard and we will see a better version of ourselves.

Christian Yao Amegavi is an engineer, writer and an aspiring astute policy maker passionate about causing socio economic liberation in the Global South through Industrialization. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. At KNUST, he was the General Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students secretariat. Notable among his works was advocating for a conducive environment under which education remains a right, not a privilege for the Ghanaian Child in the Ashanti Region. Prior to

this, Christian served as the President of the Chemical Engineering Student Association where he successfully pioneered initiatives like the annual “Unichem day” in KNUST which is forming the building blocks for a National Chemical Engineering Student Society in Ghana. In 2015, he doubled as a Zonal President of the Greater Accra Regional Student representative council while serving as the SRC Vice President in West Africa Senior High School. Christian has interned with Nkulenu Industries, Unilever Ghana and GEP Consultants assuming roles in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Occupational Health and Safety Engineering respectively. He aspires to further his career with a Masters in Mineral and Energy Economics and see Africa in its rightful place on the Global map.

Anita Akowah Panful is a 2020 graduate of the University of Ghana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and philosophy. In Dr. Hilla Limann Hall, she was the pioneer of the University Business Academy, an entrepreneurship training program. She has interned with Absa bank Ghana, formerly Barclays. She aspires to be an economist, an entrepreneur and a transformational leader with a focus on youth development and project management.She has good organizational skills and is confident, determined and a result oriented individual who strives to operate within the virtues of responsibility, hardwork and integrity in all her dealings and undertakings. She looks forward to making a distinctive impact and contributing to the civil service, making the needed change we wish to see in our bid to make Ghana better.

Bright Buernor Kpalam pursued a degree in BSc. Biochemistry from the University of Cape Coast and expected to graduate in 2020. Through optimized research, he believes to make people healthier by provision of medical suppliers through servant leadership. With a spirit of transparency, accountability and equity, Bright strongly believes that the nation will progress. Prior to joining EPL, he interned with Ada East District Hospital and Agric department of Ada West District Assembly in Greater Accra region in 2018 and in 2019 respectively. He was adjudged the best delegate in the Global Model United Nations conference in July 2020 established by BA Global Governance students, University of Rome Tor Vergata, which was organized by students from all the three public Universities of Rome in conjunction with IFAD. He served as the Public relation officer of the GADANGME student’s union, UCC campus.

Priscilla Kafui Fugar graduated in 2020 from the University of Ghana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting). She believes that the civil service can meet the needs of its citizens through the commitment and competence of its leaders in service. She is concerned about the plight of deprived communities and as such aspires to be an international Development Practitioner also in the field of humanitarian and development programmes. She is a highly motivated individual and passionate about contributing towards equitable community development in Ghana. Priscilla is an active member of the Tema Supreme Leo Club, a subsidiary of Lions Club International, whose aim is to engage in community service projects to improve the quality of lives of its citizens.

Yakubu Husein Pumaya graduated in 2020 from the University for Development Studies with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Management. Before EPL, he had a 2-month internship with the Lands Commission in Tamale, became a Local Coordinator of African Students for liberty and served in various top leadership positions in school. He intends to further his education in Land Policy analysis and Geographic Information Systems. Pumaya sees himself becoming a land policy analyst who will be a trailblazer in making the Ghanaian land market more robust, efficient and equitable in the near future.

Suad Ahmed Salihs graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast. Prior to EPL, she was privileged to be part of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI-U) and the Millennium Fellowship. She was an intern at the African Research Academy for Women (ARA-w) as a research fellow. She has acquired valuable experiences through her involvement in local and international volunteer programs for teaching and educating the marginalized and special individuals. Suad aspires to have a PhD in International Education Policy because she believes education is a powerful tool in giving voice to the voiceless and marginalized in society. A world where every child has equal access to quality education has always been Suad’s vision.

Steffast Smith is a student of , a communicator and a covetous flexible leader with great listening skills, passionate about love and giving and seeks to advance Kofi Annan’s vision for a fairer, more peaceful world. He again seeks to coach the youth in the fear of God to empower them identify their God- given purpose and in turn impact their generation. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A Hons) Political Science Education from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). At UEW, he was the Ag. Projects and Programs Chairperson of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and currently is the Associate Director of EduGen International. Steffast has participated in seminars and conferences such as the MABOG Conference, Student Leaders Summit both in 2019 at the University of Education, Winneba, African Youth Sustainable Development Goals Summit in 2018 amongst others. Best Association President, Okuapemman School in 2015, POSSA-UEW Most Outstanding Personality in 2019, NUGS-UEW Best Student Philanthropist 2019 are some recognitions he has earned. He aspires to further his career with a Master’s in International Relations.

Vannesah Kafui Kporha is a forward-thinking, detail oriented, initiative driven individual who is passionate about helping people. She is a 2020 graduate from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. She served as the Evangelical Presbyterian Union President (EPSU), Mawuko Girls chapter from 2015 to 2016. While at KNUST, she interned at the Physical Planning Department, Ga West Municipal Assembly in 2018 and the Environmental Protection Agency, Accra West Regional office in 2019 where she partook in Environmental Awareness Creation exercises within the metropolis. Vannesah believes that a career in the civil service will offer her the opportunity to contribute her quota towards promoting Ghana’s national development agenda. As a staunch advocate for credible Environmental Sustainability, Vannesah aspires to be a transformative leader in tackling Environmental Management issues in the country and the world at large.
