HGY/2016/1573 Strategic planning application stage 1 referral Town & Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended); Greater London Authority Acts 1999 and 2007; Town & Country Planning (Mayor of London) Order 2008. The proposal Demolition of the existing buildings and redevelopment of the site to provide two buildings of between 4 and 14 storeys in height comprising 174 residential units (Use Class C3) and 160 sqm flexible B1 floorspace, including the provision of private and communal amenity areas, child play space, secure cycle parking, car parking, refuse and recycling storage areas and other associated development. The applicant The applicant is Fairview New Homes Limited and the architect is Formation Architects. Strategic issues summary: Land use: redevelopment of underused industrial site for residential-led development use is supported in regeneration area (paras 13-15). Housing: 174 units proposed. Affordable housing offer has been made of 32% by habitable room, split 60:40 affordable rent to shared ownership. Viability information is being reviewed (paras 24-27). Design: Improvements required to justify tall buildings and high density development. (paras 28-32). Climate Change: Carbon reduction target met; further information required on overheating analysis (paras 35-47). Transport: proposals are acceptable; conditions and section 106 obligations required (paras 54-65). Recommendation That Haringey Council be advised that whilst the application is generally acceptable in strategic planning terms it does not fully comply with the London Plan for the reasons set out in paragraph 70 of this report. -

GB 0046 D/ECb Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies This catalogue was digitised by The National Archives as part of the National Register of Archives digitisation project NRA 13977 The National Archives HERTFORDSHIRE RECORD OFFICE D/ECb Deeds of the Koddesdon Brewery and a number of licensed houses owned or leased by the brevors. Deposited by Messrs. Boulton Sons and Sandeman for the Cannon Brewery. Inventory compiled: LAccession 162] March 1968 D/ECb Introduction This collection consists of deeds incident to the conveyance of the vhole of the Hoddesdon Brewery and all its licensed houses in 1866 and titl e deeds of some of those houses and of others that were acquired later. The expansion of Hoddesdon Brewery dates from its purchase by William Whittingstall from Rene Briand in 1781. From that date til l his death in 1803, rfhittingstall systematically enlarged the brewery*s commercial outlets by buying up a number of public houses in the surrounding district. Messrs. John Christie and George Cathrow bought the property from Vhittingstall's executors and at the death of Cathrow in 1842 it was sold privately to a new partnership of Messrs. Peter Christie, John Back and Robert Hunt. After Peter Christie's death and when 3ack and Hunt had retired to their country estates, the firm was conveyed in 1866 to Charles Peter Christie. On his death in 1898 it was turned into a public company which 30 years later was absorbed by the Cannon Brewery of London, later controlled by Taylor, Valker and Co. and now by the Ind Coope combine. -

Walking in Hertfordshire – Time to Reverse 60+ Years of Loss of Walking Routes South Herts Living Streets Manifesto for Walking in South Hertfordshire South Herts Living Streets Group is dedicated to improving walking routes in South Hertfordshire, including part of the London Borough of Barnet that was previously in Hertfordshire. We focus on walking routes between North London and Hertfordshire, from Apex Corner at Mill Hill and High Barnet Station North towards Borehamwood, South Mimms, North Mymms, Welham Green, Hatfield, Stanborough and Welwyn Garden City. We also propose an East-West walking route from the Herts/Essex border at Waltham Abbey to Waltham Cross, Cuffley, Northaw, Potters Bar, South Mimms, Ridge and Borehamwood. Our comprehensive survey of walking in South Herts shows a major loss of pavements and safe walking routes due to motorways and trunk roads that were built in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. These have had a major impact on walking routes in the South Hertfordshire Area. Many walking routes that go along or across major roads have been lost or have become unsafe due to: A6 South Mimms Bypass (1958) A1 Mill Hill to South Mimms change to dual carriageway (1960s and 1970s) London 'D' Ring Road/M25 (1971) A1(M) Junction 1/M25 Junction 23 at South Mimms (1972) A1(M) Junctions 1 - 2 South Mimms to South Hatfield (1970s) A1(M) Junction 3 and Hatfield Tunnel (1982). Since then more walking routes have been lost because some footways beside roads were planned but were never built and other footways that existed in the past were buried under banks of earth. -
