Austin County Commissioners are starting to run into issues with new subdivisions in the county that have not been signed off by City of Sealy representa- tives. County Judge Tim Lapham said at the Feb. 8 regular meeting of commissioners court that the problem lies within only one person signing off on some subdivisions. “The directors of planning and community devel- opment for the City of Sealy. That is the only person that signed off on this plat,” Lapham said. “Not the city council, not the mayor, not us. We have never seen this plat. … There is no drainage, no retention. The plan- ning commission just signs off on it.” Until the issue is resolved, Lapham said the commis- sioners court would not be approving permits. “This is an issue we are having and until we get the ZOOM Austin County Commissioners met Monday morning and discussed issues that have accompanied new subdivisions.
