In addition, the University hosts gradu­ ate-level programs for nurse practitioners and physicians assistants through the Uni­ versity ofKentucky. The University is ac­ quiring a satellite tracking system in part­ nership with NASA in the ongoing de­ velopment ofthe Ronald G Eaglin Space Science Center. MSU established East Kentucky's first public radio station, WMKY, in 1965 and today provides this region ofthe state with a 24-hour network of three FM trans­ mitters identified as Morehead State Pub­ lic Radio. Preserving tbe region's cultural heritage is the primary responsibility of MSU's Kentucky Folk Art Center and Kentucky Center for Traditional Music. Dr. Wayne D.Andrews took office Jan. 1, 2005 as the 13th president ofthe Uni­ versity. He previously served as vice president for administration and chiefop­ erating officer at East Tennessee State University. President Andrews was se­ lected in a national search from a field of nearly l 70 candidates. Brooks Stadium was built in 1948 by J. Polk Brooks. It was the original borne ofa St. Louis Cardinals minor league club. Several high school andAmericanLegion district, regional, and state tournaments have been held at the field. Brooks Stadium can be reached from Interstate 24 by taking exit #7, and heading north on Hwy. 45 to the 4th traffic light. Turn right at the 4th light (Jack.son Street).
