IRISH BOAST TRADITION OF OVERCOMING PRESEASON CONFERENCE EXPECTATIONS One of Glenn and Stacey Murphy Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Brey’s favorite terms is to stay ‘under the radar’ - work to get better as a team throughout the season without concern for the national rankings. Under Brey, the Irish have thrived ‘under the radar’ and the preseason ACC selection of ninth place portends a surpise for the conference if history is any indication. In the last six seasons Notre Dame has been picked lower than fifth in the conference presason rankings, Notre Dame has averaged 25 victories, 12.8 conference victories, a 3.2 average finish in the conference and a 4.7 average seed in the NCAA touranment.
