approaches criticized a historiography written under the impact of domination. For some time, it seemed that fruitful historical- comparative sociology was no longer possible in the face of such accumulated criticism. The project “Trajectories of modernity: comparing non-European and European varieties” (TRAMOD/), funded by the European Research Council, sees itself as part of this recent development. This TRAMOD conference will: - explore conceptual underpinnings of a historical-comparative sociology for the present time; - compare recent analyses of socio-political transformations in different world-regions, presenting some findings of our own work in nd this context; Thursday 22 & Friday - articulate this agenda with a particular rd attention to the innovative contributions 23 October 2015 made by Johann Arnason.
