Twelve year old Sid is a remarkably lucky young man. After a knee boarding accident partially dislocated the base of his skull from his neck bones, and left him with a broken jaw, a life-saving ‘halo’ held his spine and head in place. He spent a long time in Intensive Care recovering from his injuries, and undergoing intense rehabilitation. Due to nerve damage to his tongue, Sid needed speech therapy to learn to talk again, and also had daily physiotherapy to get back on his feet. Sid spent three months in the Hospital, but is home now in Coffs Harbour and back doing the things he loves, including playing tennis!

Jarvis’ Story

Jarvis was born with a heart and lung condition called PAPVD. It means the three year old is very susceptible to lung infections and bronchial conditions. He must take medication every day to control his condition and will undergo surgery next year which should hopefully mean he will no longer be so prone to infection.
