Indycar Star Pato O'ward Puts Mclaren's Road-Legal Version of Its MEDIA Media release 12.00 EST May 25, 2021 — IndyCar star Pato O’Ward puts McLaren’s road-legal version of its GT4 race car to the test Fresh from celebrating his maiden victory in the NTT INDYCAR Series, and before this weekend’s iconic Indy500 race, Pato O’Ward swaps his Arrow McLaren SP race car for McLaren Automotive’s road-legal GT4 racer, the 620R. Join Pato as he explores the car’s limits at Willow Springs Raceway in the Californian desert, then quickly sets off to discover if the supercar really is a ‘race car for the road’… Though serious enough to impress a pro driver, the latest and final Sports Series model is also perfect for amateur drivers and enthusiasts looking to hone their skills. Based on the McLaren 570S GT4, the McLaren 620R maximizes motorsport technology without the restriction of racing regulations and is the most powerful Sports Series vehicle ever with a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 611bhp and 457lb ft torque. The 620R shares aerodynamic hardware from the 570S GT4, creating 408lbs of downforce at 155mph. Lowered suspension with wider track carbon ceramic brakes and center locking wheels, and low-exit stainless steel sports exhaust all contribute to the overall experience – a true racecar for the road. With a production run limited to just 225 globally and only 70 scheduled to reach North American shores, the McLaren 620R is as rare as it is potent. To watch Pato settle into his McLaren Senna inspired carbon fibre bucket seat and take the car for a spin, see the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWPDLEsejaQ For more exciting US McLaren content follow @mclarennorthamerica on socials. ______________ Ends Notes to editors: This video was filmed with professional drivers in controlled conditions and in accordance with the law. Drive safely and within your limits. About McLaren Automotive: McLaren Automotive is a creator of luxury, high-performance supercars. Every vehicle is hand-assembled at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, Surrey, England. Launched in 2010, the company is now the largest part of the McLaren Group. The company’s product portfolio of GT, supercar, Motorsport and Ultimate models are retailed through over 85 retailers in 40 markets around the world. MEDIA McLaren is a pioneer that continuously pushes the boundaries. In 1981, it introduced lightweight and strong carbon fibre chassis into Formula 1 with the McLaren MP4/1. Then in 1993 it designed and built the McLaren F1 road car - the company has not built a car without a carbon fibre chassis since. As part of the Ultimate Series, McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™. In 2016, it announced a new hybrid hyper-GT and confirmed in 2018 that the next Ultimate car would be the Speedtail. 2019 saw McLaren launch the 600LT Spider, the new GT and the track-only McLaren Senna GTR. It also unveiled the 620R and McLaren Elva before launching the 765LT the following year. Most recently, the company unveiled its all-new high-performance hybrid supercar, the McLaren Artura. The Artura is the first McLaren to benefit from the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). The MCLA is designed, developed and manufactured at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield region of England using world- first processes and will spearhead the brand’s electrified future. McLaren Automotive also chooses to partner with like-minded, world-leading companies and organizations who push the boundaries in their respective fields. These include AkzoNobel, Ashurst, Dell Technologies, Gulf, Pirelli, Richard Mille and Tumi. McLaren Group: The McLaren Group is a global leader in luxury automotive and technology and comprises three businesses: Automotive, Racing and Applied. • CHEVROLETTER June 2021
CHEVROLETTER June 2021 Vol 2021 Issue 06.0 Director’s Report May 2021 As I write this, I should be wiping down the 38 getting ready for the Garden City memorial Day parade. The problem is that it is 49 degrees and wet and windy and the parade has been cancelled for a second time! June does have a few events scheduled that should get us feeling a little more like 2019. Hopefully we can make one or two of these events a club activity. Our supreme leader in Albany wants to get us back to normal as soon as possible and that means more car events. I have spoken to Oyster Bay and am told we may be opening up town meeting halls very soon. As of this writing there was no decision but I am optimistic that our next meeting will be inside the building and not sitting on the sidewalk in front of it. I will send out current information about the hall as soon as I know anything. Finally we can get back to coffee and donuts ! On June 13th, the Vanderbilt Region of the AACA will hold an outdoor swap meet and car corral in Ronkonkoma. Normally this group does the Brush Barn swap meet in Smithtown but this year’s was cancelled due to covid. These events are usually not too big but given the lack of other events it might be worth a trip. April 29th is the Queens Region show at Rock Hall Museum in Lawrence. Queens region members have always attended our events and we ask our members to return the courtesy if at all possible.
