Cold Chisel to Roll out the Biggest Archival Release in Australian Music History!
Cold Chisel to Roll Out the Biggest Archival Release in Australian Music History! 56 New and Rare Recordings and 3 Hours of Previously Unreleased Live Video Footage to be Unveiled! Sydney, Australia - Under total media embargo until 4.00pm EST, Monday, 27 June, 2011 --------------------------------------------------------------- 22 July, 2011 will be a memorable day for Cold Chisel fans. After two years of exhaustively excavating the band's archives, 22 July will see both the first- ever digital release of Cold Chisel’s classic catalogue as well as brand new deluxe reissues of all of their CDs. All of the band's music has been remastered so the sound quality is better than ever and state of the art CD packaging has restored the original LP visuals. In addition, the releases will also include previously unseen photos and liner notes. Most importantly, these releases will unleash a motherlode of previously unreleased sound and vision by this classic Australian band. Cold Chisel is without peer in the history of Australian music. It’s therefore only fitting that this reissue program is equally peerless. While many major international artists have revamped their classic works for the 21st century, no Australian artist has ever prepared such a significant roll out of their catalogue as this, with its specialised focus on the digital platform and the traditional CD platform. The digital release includes 56 Cold Chisel recordings that have either never been released or have not been available for more than 15 years. These include: A “Live At -

Twitterbrainz What Music Do People Share on Twitter?
TwitterBrainz what music do people share on Twitter? February 15, 2015 Open Data Project Research and Innovation Quim Llimona Àngel Farguell Modelling for Science and Engineering Abstract In this report we present TwitterBrainz, an interactive, real-time visualization of what songs are people posting on Twitter. Our system uses the MusicBrainz and Acous- ticBrainz APIs to identify the songs and extract acoustic metadata from them, which is displayed along with metadata from the tweet itself using a scatterplot metaphor for easy exploration. Clicking one of the dots/tweets/songs plays it back using the Tomahawk API, which can be used for reinventing our app into a music discovery tool. Since we are both musicians, we thought it had to be about visualizing music, in any of its forms. We knew about the AcousticBrainz API, which provides acoustic information about commercial songs, and found in Twitter a great opportunity for integration. The original idea was to find tweets from users that referenced the user was listening to a particular song, find metadata about that song, and then plot the metadata along with features extracted from the tweet itself, looking for correlations. For instance, one could expect that in work days people listen to more relaxed music than during the weekend. -

Apartheid Revolutionary Poem-Songs. the Cases of Roger Lucey and Mzwakhe Mbuli
Corso di Laurea magistrale (ordinamento ex D.M. 270/2004) in Lingue e Letterature Europee, Americane e Postcoloniali Apartheid Revolutionary Poem-Songs. The Cases of Roger Lucey and Mzwakhe Mbuli Relatore Ch. Prof. Marco Fazzini Correlatore Ch. Prof. Alessandro Scarsella Laureanda Irene Pozzobon Matricola 828267 Anno Accademico 2013 / 2014 ABSTRACT When a system of segregation tries to oppress individuals and peoples, struggle becomes an important part in order to have social and civil rights back. Revolutionary poem-songs are to be considered as part of that struggle. This dissertation aims at offering an overview on how South African poet-songwriters, in particular the white Roger Lucey and the black Mzwakhe Mbuli, composed poem-songs to fight against apartheid. A secondary purpose of this study is to show how, despite the different ethnicities of these poet-songwriters, similar themes are to be found in their literary works. In order to investigate this topic deeply, an interview with Roger Lucey was recorded and transcribed in September 2014. This work will first take into consideration poem-songs as part of a broader topic called ‘oral literature’. Secondly, it will focus on what revolutionary poem-songs are and it will report examples of poem-songs from the South African apartheid regime (1950s to 1990s). Its third part will explore both the personal and musical background of the two songwriters. Part four, then, will thematically analyse Roger Lucey and Mzwakhe Mbuli’s lyrics composed in that particular moment of history. Finally, an epilogue will show how the two songwriters’ perspectives have evolved in the post-apartheid era. -
