Previously he served as Club Meeting the Regional Director for the Department of Children and Families. Prior to moving to Jacksonville, Dave was a 31-year active duty Army military South Jacksonville officer with 5 deployments. An Army Aviator whose positions included Meets at Southside Baptist Brigade Commander, Inspector General of all Continental US Army Forces Church, Fellowship Hall Buffet and the Commandant of the Sergeants Major Academy. Lunch begins at 12:00 PM 1435 Atlantic Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32207 David is a proud graduate of the Air Force Academy. January 19th Karen Bowling, UNF Entreprenuerial program January 26th Founder's Day, PE Richard Dow Feb 2 Patrick Kilbane, Jacksonville Aviation Authority ROTARY FLOAT IN ROSE PARADE While watching the 1978 Pasadena Rose Parade on Television, Jack Gilbert, who was President of the Birthdays Wilshire Rotary Club, in Los Angeles, California, and subsequently chairman of the Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee, had an idea. Rotary would be celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 1980. Jack believed Martha E. Barrett that by entering a float in the 1980 New Year�s Day Rose Parade, Rotary could communicate its January 8th message, �Service Above Self� to millions of people worldwide.

Jack shared his vision with other Rotarians, who supported the idea. Seven Governors in Southern Larry Cavallaro California agreed to underwrite the cost of the float and make up any shortfall not covered by Club January 9th contributions. Fortunately, the Clubs contributed $35,000 which covered the full cost of the original float.

This first Tournament of Roses experience lead to the formation of the Rotary Rose Parade Float PP Vicki-lynne Gloger Committee which now receives contributions each year from approximately 8 Rotary Districts and an January 10th additional 700 Individual Rotary Clubs to fund the float. The Rotary International float in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade is one of the largest public relations project of the Rotary clubs of the United States and Canada. A multi-district Rotary committee in Southern California coordinates Hal A Kelly planning of the Rotary float and provides hundreds of volunteer hours of service. The Rotary float must January 13th portray the annual parade theme, usually depicting one of the worldwide service programs of Rotary International. Each New Year's Day, Rotarians take pride in seeing their attractive float and realize they have shared in its construction by contributing a dollar or two to this beautiful public relations project. Mary Alice Phelan January 19th The Committee has entered a float every year since 1980. The famous Pasadena, California, parade is seen by an estimated 125 million people via worldwide television.

Morales The Oratory Committee 01-18-1983 38 Years This Week in History Larry Cavallaro By Mike Shewey on Friday, January 8, 2021 01-22-1985 36 Years On January 12th, 1932, Hattie Wyatt Caraway becomes first woman elected to U.S. Senate Hattie Ophelia Wyatt Caraway, a Democrat from , becomes the first woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate. Caraway, born near Bakerville, , had been appointed to the Senate two months PE Richard Dow earlier to fill the vacancy left by her late husband, Thaddeus Horatio Caraway. With the support of Huey 01-16-2007 Long, a powerful senator from , Caraway was elected to the seat. In 1938, she was re-elected. 14 Years After failing to win re-nomination in 1944, she was appointed to the Federal Employees Compensation Commission by President Franklin Roosevelt. Ron Patrick 01-10-2012 Although she was the first freely elected female senator, Caraway was preceded in the Senate by Rebecca 9 Years Latimer Felton, who was appointed in 1922 to fill a vacancy but never ran for election.
