Pakistan Super League 2019 or PSL4 was the fourth season of the Pakistan Super League PSL4 featured six teams (Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultan) and was held from 14th February, 2019 to 17th March, 2019. Twenty Six matches were played in the United Arab Emirates while eight matches were played in Karachi. Every team played each other twice and the top four teams Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings qualified for a series of playoff games while Lahore Qalandars & Multan Sultans failed to qualify for playoff stage like last year. The top two teams Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi played the first qualifier in which Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs. The next two teams Islamabad United and Karachi Kings played an eliminator in which Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by 4 wickets. They are caused either by the movement of the molten materials beneath the surface of the earth or by volcanic eruptions. There are various minerals and gases under the surface of the earth. Their reaction with each other and movements beneath the earth bring earthquakes. This is one reason why we have earthquakes. In certain parts of the world, there are volcanoes or burning mountains. Every earthquake has its origin, called the “Focus”, and the spot directly above it, is called the “Epicentre”. The epicenter of earthquake is vigorous and severe. The tremors, too, are very severe at the Epicentre. Even a slight earthquake is unpleasant and terrifying for any one, but is brings lesser destruction. Earthquake intensity is measured on a scale called “Richter Scale”. If the intensity is from 7 – 9, it is considered as a severe earthquake. If it is between 5 – 6, it is considered as a moderate earthquake and below 5, it is a harmless or a normal earthquake. There are two types of earthquake. (i) TSUNAMI (Originates in sea) (ii) Earthquake (Originates on land) The earthquake occurred in Pakistan was recorded 7.6 on the Richter Scale. It occurred in Northern Areas of Pakistan including Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Jammu & Kashmir and Hazara Divisions. As a result of this earthquake, heavy loss of life and property occurred. Pakistan government along with many volunteers is trying to rehabilitate the survivors of this earthquake. Thus, earthquake produces a lot of destruction and devastation. The effects are long lasting. In other words, earthquake is a test for both the people and the government. S.M. STANDARD SCHOOL 2 S.M. STANDARD SCHOOL Health problems in a big city Environmental pollution The most alarming and menacing problem which we are facing in our world now a days is pollution. It makes our environment unclean, harmful and injurious. It is very dangerous for human life and water life as well as for animals and plants. The environment pollution is acute in big cities where industries and factories are working. Smokes discharged by these factories and motors vehicles pollute air. Industry also discharges harmful chemical gases which are inhaled by us. Dust also takes part in it. Different rough voices create noise pollution, which effects our nerves system. The waste dirty water of factories and sewerage water goes into sea, which makes water and its life absolutely poisonous. When we use this water life as our food, it causes many disease. If we want to keep our life safe and comfortable, we should try to keep our localities clean and unpolluted. It is our duty for the safety of our coming generations and this world. Terrorism Terrorism has been now the most burning problem for the whole world. No country is out of reach of terrorism. The United States which was once quite safe and sound has fallen a victim to these terrorists. 11th September 2001 for USA unknown terrorists attacked upon military power. The world trade centre and the Pentagon were under attack. On this day, sirens screamed and terrified people rushed through the streets for safety. Hundred of billion of property turned into heap in a wink. All world leaders condemned on this brutal event. President Musharraf strongly condemned the terrorist attacks, Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan also condemned the attacks. Muslim countries have been blamed and targeted for these attacks. The U.S.A considered that the main character of this terrorism is Usama – Bin – Laden. For this purpose, America and the British both attacked Afghanistan. Thousands of people were killed by them. Unless the world leaders put their heads to find out a way to end this blood shedding. In these situations, the U.S.A praised the role of Pakistan. Pakistan is also against terrorism. In fact, Pakistan is an Islamic country. Pakistan wants peace all over the world. Health is Wealth “Health is wealth” is an old saying. Health is one of the greatest blessings of God. It has been rightly said that healthy body has healthy mind. If health is lost, everything is lost. Unhealthy person losses all the charms of life. He becomes a burden on others. He leads a very uncomfortable life. All his wealth is of no use for him. Healthy man enjoys the real blessings of life. He gets pleasure and happiness from everything. He becomes useful member of his society. He can serve his nation well. We should take care of our health. For this purpose, we should eat pure and simple food. We should avoid overeating. Morning walk is very useful for health. We should also take exercise regularly. We should also take bath daily and clean our teeth twice a day. We can work hard and study well only when we are healthy. S.M. STANDARD SCHOOL 3 S.M. STANDARD SCHOOL Duties of a Good Citizen A good citizen has many duties towards his country. He must be fully aware of his rights and duties. He must get good education. He must be loyal, sacrificing and law – abiding. He must be patriotic. He must prefer national interest to his personal interest. He must be useful citizen of his country. He should co – operate with the government to solve the problems. He should be dutiful. He pays his dues to the government regularly and in time. His life is very simple. His dealings are fair. His behaviour with his neighbours and other people is very good. In fact, a good citizen is the true representative of Islam and Islamic Society. Pakistan Day Celebration The Pakistan Day is a very important day in our history. It was the day of 23rd March 1940 that “Pakistan Resolution” was passed at Lahore. We celebrate this day with zeal, pomp and show. The day starts with prayers in all the mosques. All the Pakistanis pray for the welfare and the progress of Pakistan. Military parades are held in all big cities. Newspapers bring out special editions. 31 gunshots are fired at the capital of Islamabad and 21 gunshots are fired at provincial capitals. The shops and houses are well decorated with colourful buntings. We celebrated this day in our school too. A Bait Bazi competition was held. The team of class IX won this competition. It ended at about sunset. May God give us power to follow the teachings of Islam and the principles of the Quaid-e-Azam. “Pakistan Zindabad” My first Day at School I was a boy of five years when I was taken for admission in school. As I reached the school I was puzzled to see the school building, the vast playground and a number of boys of all ages. After the school bell rang, most of the boys walked to their classes. I was taken to clerk’s office. He gave my father a big form. My father filled it. The form was signed by the Headmaster. He asked me a few questions. Then, I was sent to the classroom.
