One Word to Describe Me: Ambitious

My Favorite Mentors: Richard Kalkbrenner and Dick Chapman.

Richard met with me faithfully for weeks before we played helping me to learn conventions, most of which were part of the David Siebert system. We shared a lot of laughs along the way and I can never thank him enough for all the time he spent with me. I am so pleased Richard has agreed to be the primary instructor for our inaugural Junior Bridge Camp this summer.

Dick continued teaching me even more conventions after I already thought I knew enough of them.

Both of these men inspired me. I truly hope that I can be as much of an inspiration to those I mentor as Richard and Dick have been for me. ♣

W. Dane Clay Bridge Library The Bridge House dedicates the Bridge Library to W. Dane Clay in gratitude for his ingenuity, advocacy, enthusiasm, and support of the educational mission of The Bridge House throughout its existence.

Dane conceived the idea of creating a nonprofit corporation to present formal instruction, training, and practice of competitive duplicate contract bridge in a single facility with regular instructors, courses, instructional materials, library, and practice area. He served as chair from the organization’s incorporation in May 2003 until February 2014. Dane’s legal expertise, unstinting advocacy, and dogged perseverance were crucial in obtaining a determination that The Bridge House was a 501(c)(3) entity and a public charity.

Dane’s vision, talent, and dedication in his roles as incorporator, legal counsel, and chair of The Bridge House solidified the future of duplicate bridge in Central Arkansas. ♣

David, Art, Ann, and Jane dedicate the Bridge Library to the memory of W. Dane Clay. ♣
