SACYR OPENS THE PIRÁMIDES--PACHUCA HIGHWAY IN

• This 91.5 km long project is operated using a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and has an estimated revenue backlog of 214 million euros.

Madrid, April 28, 2020.- A consortium led by Sacyr companies has completed the renovation of the Pirámides-Tulancingo-Pachuca road in Mexico. This operation is a milestone in the consolidation of Sacyr Concessions in Mexico, marking the entry into service of its first road infrastructure project which was awarded in August 2017.

The concessionary company has modernized the highway that forms part of the main axis connecting the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean for a total of 72.2 million euros. It is a divided highway with two lanes on each side, with an equivalent length of 183 km.

The concession has a duration of 10 years and will represent an estimated revenue backlog of approximately 214 million euros. It includes the restoration and conservation of 91.5 km including the two stretches of the federal highways MEX-130 and MEX-132, located in the states of Mexico and .

Innovative project

The initial restoration covered work on asphalts; slopes in cuts and embankments, bridges and structures, drainage works, signage and safety devices, as well as right-of-way functionality and various road maintenance services to comply with global performance standards for toll-free roads.

Sacyr innovated in this project with the use of asphalt containing RARx: a high-tech product made from end-of-life tire powder pre-treated with bitumen and other additives that enhances the properties of mixes (better performance against reflection and propagation of cracks, increased fatigue strength, noise reduction, etc.).

Sacyr in Mexico

Tláhuac will have 250 beds and represents a revenue backlog of 1,350 million euros over the 25 years of the contract.
