The larger villages provide services and facilities for their own residents and for those that live in smaller villages and rural settlements in a hinterland around them (often overlapping). These larger villages we have called Core Villages, and they are:
• Bildeston • Glemsford • Boxford • Holbrook • Bures St Mary • Lavenham • Capel St Mary • Long Melford • East Bergholt • Nayland The villages in catchment areas of these Core Villages we have called Hinterland Villages.
We are planning to provide 2,500 new Sustainable Development and Infrastructure homes in the urban areas and villages – Plans for Babergh aim to ensure that growth and this will include a new requirement that development in the next 20 years are sustainable through every new home contributes to delivering a achieving an appropriate balance between environmental, target of 100 affordable homes each year. economic and social needs.
