The Center for Jewish and Studies at is now accepting applications, from Israel and abroad, for research fellowships.

The Center for Jewish and Israel Studies was recently founded at Ariel University for the purpose of promoting excellence in scholarship in the fields of Jewish studies and the history of Israel. The Center will serve as a supportive home for outstanding scholars working in a broad range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, including: archaeology, Bible, Talmud and Jewish law, Hebrew literature, Yiddish and folklore, Jewish history and modern , history of , Jewish and Israeli press, history of the State of Israel, Jewish sociology, Jewish economics, sociology of Israeli society, Jewish philosophy, and Hebrew and Jewish languages.

The Center is now accepting Research Fellows, scholars from Israel and abroad who hold doctorates in all fields of Jewish studies. Research Fellows will be selected on the basis of demonstrable excellence in scholarship by a special committee formed by the Center.

Research Fellows at the Center will form a unique academic cadre at Ariel University; Fellows will receive library and secretarial services, research and development services, and the opportunity to apply for research grants under the aegis of Ariel University. In recompense for their scholarly achievements, Research Fellows will also receive:

- A grant for each article published in a peer-reviewed scientific publication (as defined by the Center), under the name of the Research Fellow and including his/her academic affiliation at Ariel University.

- A salary paid from research grants obtained by the Research Fellow, corresponding to the size of the grant, less overhead due to the Center and the university.

Duties of Research Fellows at the Center include:

- Submission of at least one article for publication in a recognized academic journal, with the Research Fellow¹s academic affiliation at Ariel University duly noted.

- Submission of at least one grant request from a funding source external to the university.

- Regular participation in the academic activities held at the Center during the course of the year.

- Assistance in the organization of conferences, seminars and other academic activities of the Center.

- Assistance in the preparation of journals and other academic publications to be published by the Center.

- Participation in at least five of the regular meetings which will be held at the Center over the course of the year. (This requirement will not apply to Research Fellows who are outside of Israel at the time of the meeting).
