On November 3rd a record, 803,810 citizens voted throughout the state.

Presidential Race Joe Biden easily defeated incumbent President Donald Trump, unlike four years ago when Hillary Clinton eked out a slim victory. Donald Trump got 19,684 more votes than he did in 2016. His problem was that Joe Biden got 76,395 more votes than Hillary Clinton.

US Senate/Governor Democratic US Sen. Jeanne Shaheen had little trouble defeating Trump-backed Corky Messner. Shaheen, who usually is the top vote getter when she runs, received about 70,000 less votes than Gov. Sununu who scored a resounding victory over Senate Majority Leader while setting a record for votes for governor.

US House Congressman Pappas and Congresswoman Kuster were re-elected with fairly comfortable margins.

NH House Democrats lost about 50 seats in the NH House on election day. This has flipped control to the GOP. However, their new majority is the smallest of any party since at least the 1970s. As a reminder, going into the election democrats had about a 40-seat majority. 34 incumbents lost their seats Tuesday, all but one Democrats.

Member attendance at both committees and House sessions will be critical over the next two years.

State Senate The GOP picked up 4 State Senate seats. This has flipped the chamber from democrat to republican control. As a reminder, going into the election democrats had a 14-10 majority.

Of note, Senators Gary Daniels (former chair of Senate Finance), Kevin Avard and Bill Gannon are all returning after election re-matches from the 2018.

The following incumbent Senators were defeated: 1. Jeannie Distech. 2. 3. Jon Morgan 4.

New NH Senate Breakdown 14 (GOP) 10 (DEM)

Executive Council Republican Joe Kenney reclaimed the District 1 seat Michael Cryans won two years ago, and former Councilor David Wheeler defeated incumbent Democrat Debora Pignatelli. The two have fought over the District 5 seat for almost two decades.

Republicans held on to the District 3 seat vacated by Russel Prescott as Janet Stevens defeated Democrat Mindi Messmer, and incumbent District 4 councilor Ted Gatsas defeated former union president Mark Mackenzie.

Democrats held the District 2 seat with Cinde Warmington defeating Jim Beard.
