On Friday night, September 29th, Northeastern University gets a chance to model one of its exemplary student athletes during official Hall of Fame ceremonies at Matthews Arena, where Dyer was 47-6-2 as a collegiate goalie. Dyer will join five other Northeastern Hall of Famers, including the late great Reggie Lewis. A member of the Class of 1990, she graduated with an official degree in Business Administration and a minor in hockey. Having carved niches at every amateur hockey level, she now plays the sport for a living with the West Palm Beach entry in Florida's Sunshine League. She has played in front of a handful of relatives and well wishers, and 10,000 fans in the 1990 World Games in Ottawa, Ontario. Depending on whatever was the better challenge at the time, she has played a men's sport and a women's sport. However, her bottom line is genderless. Dyer, you see, is a hockey player. "I went stir crazy not working two jobs having come from Northeastern," said Dyer, who just this past summer parlayed creative and athletic passions as the Director of Marketing and starting goaltender for the Orlando Rollergators of the International Roller Hockey League.

Two Worlds Collide: Salary Arbitration for NHL Players in the Salary Cap Era TREVOR LEVINE* I. INTRODUCTION In the summer of 1997, Tommy Salo was a young and promising goaltender who had just finished his first full season as the New York Islanders' starting goalie. 1 However, after an emotional arbitration hearing during which Islanders' General Manager Mike Milbury called Salo "one of the worst-conditioned athletes on the team," 2 the goalie who had helped lead 3 the 1994 Swedish national team to Olympic gold was reduced to tears. Salary arbitration can be a nasty process with both players and teams fighting for every dollar.4 Although salary arbitration hearings can sometimes damage players' egos, the players themselves fought to implement the system in 1970 and fought to maintain it in 1994.5 Despite the * J.D. 2011, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. 1 Tim Whamsby, The Most Bitter of Battles, THE SPORTING NEWS, July 22, 2002, available at http://fmdarticles.com/p/articles/mi-ml208/is_29_226/ai_95680434/. Id LeClair had averaged forty-seven goals per season the previous five seasons and had a total of 235 goals during those seasons, the most in the NHL for that time period. Id. Despite this output, Flyers General Manager Bobby Clarke told the arbitrator that LeClair was weak defensively and a disappointment in the playoffs. • Season Like No Other Ends with Lightning
SEASON LIKE NO OTHER ENDS WITH LIGHTNING LIFTING STANLEY CUP Nearly a full year after the opening face-off of the 2019-20 campaign and more than six months after the League hit “pause” on the regular season, the Tampa Bay Lightning won Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to claim their second championship. * The clinching victory came 363 days after the puck dropped on the regular season, 201 days after the pause began and 65 days after players entered “Bubbles” in Edmonton and Toronto for a postseason unlike any other in League history. * The Lightning opened their 27th season with a victory against the intrastate rival Panthers on Oct. 3, 2019, and concluded it by hoisting the Cup to avenge one of the most monumental upsets in League history. After matching the single-season NHL record for wins in 2018-19, the Lightning were swept by the Blue Jackets in the First Round. * Tampa Bay became the third team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup after being swept in a best-of-seven series during the opening round of the previous postseason, joining the 1967 Maple Leafs and 1961 Black Hawks. * The Lightning are the first franchise to join the League in the 1990s or later and win the Stanley Cup multiple times, though the trophy presentation looked quite different this time around. Former captain Dave Andreychuk accepted the team’s first Cup on June 7, 2004 after Game 7 against the Calgary Flames in front of a crowd of 22,717 at St. Pete Times Forum, while current captain Steven Stamkos accepted the trophy alongside the entire team at center ice at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

State of Minnesota Minnesota was admitted as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858, created from the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory. Its official motto is L'Étoile du Nord (French: Star of the North). Minnesota is the 12th largest in area and the 21st most populous of the U.S. States; nearly 60 percent of its residents live in the Minneapolis –Saint Paul metropolitan area (known as the "Twin Cities"), the center of transportation, business, Flag Seal industry, education, and government and home to an internationally known arts community. The Nickname(s): Land of 10,000 Lakes; remainder of the state consists of western prairies now given over to intensive agriculture; North Star State; The Gopher State; The State of deciduous forests in the southeast, now partially cleared, farmed and settled; and the less populated Hockey. North Woods, used for mining, forestry, and recreation.
