What Equipment will be needed?

Mini Tyke is non-contact, players will only require some basic equipment: hockey with facemask or a with facemask, mouth guard, shoulder , gloves, athletic support and cup, and elbow pads. A and running shoes are also required. Knee pads are recommended.

Where can I buy lacrosse equipment?

Lacrosse equipment can be purchased at South Swell Sports in Austin. There numerous websites to purchase equipment directly from www.lacrosse.com , www.laxworld.com and others. Hockey helmets and face masks can be purchased from any local sporting goods retailer like Dicks or Academy.

What type of insurance is carried?

The TBLA insurance provided is a generic insurance package. Your registration fee includes the costs of insurance. This insurance is Extended Medical Insurance, not basic health care insurance.

What are the requirements for coaches and officials?

All coaches and referees are to be certified at a clinic prior to season start. All coaching and referee programs follow the Canadian Lacrosse Association standards. Anyone with or without a lacrosse background are encouraged to sign up for a coaching, assistant coaching or refereeing position.

Are minor league games as rough as the games seen on T.V.?

Definitely not! Many of the infractions that are accepted in the professional league would result in a penalty and/or suspension in ANY minor lacrosse association. The TBLA stresses fun, fair play and a safe playing environment.

How long is the season?

The Mini-Tyke season runs for 10 consecutive weeks beginning in late May and running through mid August. There will be two one hour sessions per week. Days and times will be announced shortly.
