Australian Grain Storage (ags) has a robust internal quality program incorporating GMP processes and procedures and has all relevant operation processes documented as required. In addition, Australian Grain Storage (ags) undertakes to outturn grain in accordance with obligations outlined in its Storage and Handling Agreement. I am pleased to report that the responses to these challenges have been fantastic. We have found more members and traced some of those lost to the mailing list. There are more alumni actively involved in organisation and operations of the association. Homework submissions for publication in Talkabout have come from a broad range of our membership and many of our retirees are digging into their garages and cupboards to find memorabilia for archives. How good is Talkabout? The contributions from members always make this publication an interesting read. Expressions of appreciation are always forthcoming. It certainly serves the function of keeping people informed and in touch with their colleagues and provides a forum for disseminating information about our association’s activities. It was pleasing to have reports from three of our most recent scholar- ship holders as they complete their course and commence their careers in education. Our Association has been able to increase the amount offered from $6000 to $8000 to the successful final year student(s) in education thanks to the support of our members. Swan Hill Stock Selling Complex
Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange Prime Sheep & Lamb Sale 11th June 2020 Numbers were slightly down from last sale but quality was still maintained with plenty of well finished lambs on offer. All the regular buyers attended, although not all participated fully. However, the market was dearer than last sale, mirroring the improved rates seen across the industry. Prices for Heavy Lambs increased $5-10/ph and Trade Lambs up $10-15/ph. Heavy Merino Lambs remained firm. Light-Medium Merino Lambs were $5-10/ph dearer and Light Lambs saw the biggest rise of $10-20/ph increase. The trend for Mutton was cheaper but there were too few to reliably quote. This Circular contains the following important information on the forthcoming harvest: 2019 Depot Recieval Plan Redirection Payment approach and rates Depot Contacts 2019 Crop Payment Options Pre-Delivery Declaration Food Safety Guidelines Harvest Equipment Cleaning Procedures AGS Grower/Contractor Induction for Receivals Contact Grower Services on 1800 654 557 or 02 6953 0436 if any clarification is required. Alternatively you can email Grower Services at the following address [email protected] or send a message through the grower web portal. 1. Grain Quality is Paramount Growers are once again asked to pay particular attention to factors that can impact the quality of the paddy they deliver. In the lead up to harvest, please ensure your crop/s are not drained prematurely and that your harvest operations take place in the right moisture level range. It is important that growers aim to deliver the majority of their paddy within the ideal moisture range of 18-22% to maximise grain quality. In order to assist growers in this process AGS will be flexible with the harvest receival ranges, where it will not pose any risk to the drying of the paddy. We ask that growers do the following prior to harvest: Speak with your depot supervisor at least 1 week prior to your commencement of harvest, their contact details can be found on Page 2 and also at www.harvestinformation.sunrice.com.au Arrange to have a moisture test at the receival depot when you believe the paddy may be close to 24% AGS ask that growers please complete a moisture test prior to commencing harvesting on crops that you may be at high moistures.AGS will provide moisture testing at all nominated receival depots as well as Finley, Burraboi and Moulamein.
