As with every year, the highlight was the works displayed by our HSC Visual Arts class. While only quite a small class this year, it did not detract from the exhibition at all. These works will be packed up in the next week and sent off to the Homebush HSC Marking Centre where I am sure the HSC markers will be as equally impressed as we all were.

In addition to the artworks, the crowd was also entertained by our Dance and Vocal Ensembles, as well as solo performers, Connor Lambrou, James

Both Deputy Principals have attended the annual State Secondary Deputy Principals Association conference this week. It has been an opportunity to forge networks and connect with people from many other areas. Guest speakers have included Dame Pat Collarbone from the UK who spoke about learning change management in education, Professor Jenny Gore who spoke about the professional learning practice of Quality Teaching Rounds and other research currently being undertaken, Jonathan Nicholas who spoke about youth mental health issues and well-known columnist and social commentator Jane Caro.

Dame Pat Collarbone spoke eloquently about the Melbourne Declaration, a document that Senior Executive at our school used to guide the whole Executive planning day held earlier this term. Two goals emerged from the declaration that guide all of us involved in education.

Goal 1: Australian schooling promotes excellence and equity. Goal 2: All young Australians become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.

These goals are indeed worthy of our full attention.

Preliminary Year Examinations We would like to wish our Year 11 students well in their final week prior to their Preliminary Year final examinations. We encourage all students to use this week very wisely; to ask those last minute questions of your teachers about any area of work that you are unsure of. Students should be well into their routines of concerted study prior to these examinations. Teachers are only too willing to spend time with you to ensure understanding of concepts and processes before you go into examinations. Spend some time this weekend writing down any questions you might have and bring them in to class next week for clarification. This is one more step in your preparation towards Higher School Certificate examinations next year. We are confident that you will continue to do your best in all aspects of your preparation. Tony Rudd Principal
