    Calendar of Intercessions Michaelmas – Advent 2017 to this edition of the prayer diary, following the Feast St Michael and All Angels until the first Sunday of Advent. There are now two Rochester cycles of prayer – ‘parishes’ and ‘extra- Welcome parochial’. This is an attempt to be a little more even handed with the additional groups who are prayed for as the year turns, and to include our church schools in our prayers. As usual, it’s a sizable document but designed to be quick and clear to read, and also to leave space for your own notes. Of course, you do not have to print it all out at once, and you’re welcome to reformat it, if you wish (a Word version is available from my blog, see website below). Sunday entries are designed to look at some of the bigger pictures in our Diocese – sometimes geographical (deaneries, archdeaconries, link dioceses) sometimes issues or activities (Vocations Sunday). If there is an aspect of diocesan life that you’d like included on a Sunday, do let me know. These are followed through the week by daily prayers from all over the diocese, and across the Anglican Communion, including the calendar of saints and other worthy people. Finally, there is space in the daily entries for you to note any prayer requests that have been made to you or your parish, or any special interests you want to remember in your prayers. The purpose of the booklet is not only to provide you with details on how donations are being used, but to offer some ideas on how to target your support to a project that you feel particularly passionate or strongly about. We hope this will in turn help to make missions-giving for you even more meaningful. Each project has been developed in partnership with those who will directly benefit. Selecting and then funding projects to be supported is decided annually by the Anglican Missions Board in line with our projected budget. Each project aligns with one or more of the ‘5 Marks of Mission’ which encourages all churches to: • Evangelise (proclaim the good news of the Kingdom); • Nurture (teach, baptise and nurture the Christian faith); • Serve (respond to human needs by loving service); • Preserve (preserve the integrity of creation for future generations); and • Transform (transform unjust structures of society, challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation).

Clergy Moves The Revd Monwabisi Peter has recently been appointed the Chaplain of St Andrews Preparatory School, Grahamstown and the Revd Mvuleni Mvula has been appointed Rector of St Clement’s, Grahamstown with effect 1st January 2016. We have been notified by the Revd Margaret Fourie that she will be leaving the diocese at the end of May 2016. The Lord has blessed us with the arrival of the Revd Dr Liz Thomas who has been recommended by the parish council to be their future Priest-in-Charge. This would be finalised by Chapter on the 26th of April 2016. We have been informed by the Revd Canon Dr Vicentia Kgabe that the following lecturers have joined the College staff:- The Revd Gcebile Gina; The Revd Canon Melany Adonis; The Revd Dr Simon Tibbs.     RESOURCING SUSTAINABLE CHURCH: A TIME TO CHANGE - TOGETHER Transforming lives in Greater Lincolnshire 1 Foreword from The Bishop of Lincoln Returning to Lincoln after almost two years’ absence gives me the opportunity to see and evaluate the progress that has been made to address the issues we face as a diocese. Many of the possibilities that are placed before you in this report were already under discussion in 2019. What this report, and the work that lies behind it, does is to put flesh on the bones. It gives us a diocese the opportunity to own up to and address the issues we face at this time. I am happy strongly to recommend this report. It comes with my full support and gratitude to those who have contributed so far. What it shows is that everything is possible if we trust in God and each other. Of course, this is only a first step in a process of development and change. Much as some of us, including me at times, might like to look back nostalgically to the past – the good news is that God is calling us into something new and exciting. What lies ahead will not be easy – as some hard decisions will need to be taken. But my advice is that there will never be a better opportunity to work together to uncover and build the Kingdom of God in Greater Lincolnshire. JH and MV agreed with this proposal. d) Receive the minutes of the Finance meeting held 13/05/19 The minutes were approved with a date amendment. Discussions was had on the exact allocation of monies received by the Patron Scheme. JH confirmed money from the Patron scheme goes to the Foundation, which then goes into the accounts General Fund.
