Corpus Christi never climbed out, falling 9-4 in the series opener at Whataburger Field. Yoanys Quiala allowed a two-out, two-run homer to Allen in the first to give the Missions a 2-0 edge. San Antonio played add-on in the second via Josh Naylor's two-run single. In the third, Allen belted a solo shot off Quiala to left field. His 14th blast of the season made it a 5-0 advantage. Erasmo Pinales entered the game in the fourth, and permitted a pair of run-scoring singles to Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Naylor for a 7-0 Missions lead.
San Antonio starter Cal Quantrill twirled five scoreless innings before the Hooks chipped away at the deficit in the sixth. Randy Ce- sar drilled a one-out double to right centerfield, extending his hitting streak to 31 games. esar later scored on a fielder's choice to put the Hooks on the scoreboard. Jamie Ritchie collected an RBI single and another by Alex De Goti made it a 7-3 ballgame. This is currently the longest hit streak in Minor League Baseball this season. It’s also the longest streak in the Texas League since Midland’s D’Arby Myers hit safely in 33 consecutive games during the 2013 campaign.
