SYNOPSIS The environmentally acceptable disposal of fine-particled mining and industrial wastes by the formltion of hydraul- ic-fill slimes dams is becoming an increasingly important aspect of the total mining endeavour. Relatively little is known of the behaviour of waste slurries during deposition. This paper describes and analyses the following aspects of slurry behaviour: (i) the relationship between viscosity, shear strength, and water content, (ii) the slope assumed by a thickened slurry, (iii) particle-size sorting on a hydraulic-fill beach, (iv) gradients of hydraulic-fill beaches, and (v) internal erosion during the deposition of slurry. SAMEVATTING Die wegdoening van mynbou- en nywerheidsafval met bale fyn partikels deur die vorming van hidroulies gevulde slykdamme, wat vir die omgewing aanvaarbaar is, word 'n al hoe belangriker aspek van die totale mynboupoging. Dur is betreklik min bekend oor die gedrag van afvalflodders tydens afsetting. Hierdie referaat beskryf en ontleed die volgende aspekte van die gedrag van flodder: (i) die verhouding tussen viskositeit, skuifsterkte en waterinhoud, (ii) die helling wat 'n verdikte flodder inneem, (iii) partikelgroottesortering op 'n hidroulies gevulde strand, (iv) gradient van hidroulies gevulde strande, en (v) inwendige erosie tydens die afsetting van flodder. 1 SUBMISSION ON FUTURE TRANSPORT 2056 Greater Sydney Services & Infrastructure Plan Trunk Corridors An important corridor that is conspicuous by its absence, compared with previous transport studies, is a direct link between Macquarie Park and Parramatta. These are two of the largest strategic employment centres in the metropolitan area and it beggars belief that it’s not considered important enough to warrant inclusion as a major trunk route. Perhaps this is a consequence of the Greater Sydney Commission’s proposal to truncate the Global Economic Corridor Arc at Macquarie Park, instead of the previous strategy of extending it to Parramatta. A retrograde step in my view. Previous Metropolitan Planning Strategies had stressed the importance of investigating improved transport links between Macquarie Park and Parramatta, but this now appears to have slipped off the radar. This should be reinstated. Future Networks Initiatives for Investigation (10-20 Years) – South - East Mass Transit Link In addition to a South - East Mass Transit link, an extension of the Eastern Suburbs Railway should be investigated from Bondi Junction to North Bondi via Bondi Road, and Bondi Beach, with a branch to Bronte Beach via Charing Cross and Bronte. The potential capacity of the ESR is grossly underutilised and these extensions would assist in increasing patronage as well as relieving road congestion. 2 Parramatta to Epping/Macquarie Park Mass Transit Link The Parramatta to Epping Mass Transit link investigation should also include consideration of an alternative route from Parramatta to Macquarie Park via Eastwood. The focus on this corridor should be on a direct link between Parramatta and Macquarie Park, which will be the major trip generators. -

Willoughby City Council AGENDA TRAFFIC COMMITTEE MEETING NO 4/2017 16 August 2017 Notice of Traffic Committee Meeting to be held in the Banksia Room Willoughby City Council Administration Building Level 6, 31 Victor Street, Chatswood commencing 9:30am WILLOUGHBY CITY COUNCIL TRAFFIC COMMITTEE The following information is provided so that you may be aware of the structure and operation of the Willoughby City Traffic Committee. The Willoughby Traffic Committee is not a Committee of Willoughby City Council but a Technical Committee of the Roads and Maritime Services. Council has been delegated certain powers, from the Roads and Maritime Services, with regard to traffic matters upon its local roads. A condition of this delegation is that Council must take into account the Traffic Committee recommendations. There are four permanent members of the Traffic Committee, each of whom has a single vote only. The members are the NSW Police Service, the Roads and Maritime Services, the Local State Member of Parliament (for the location of the issue to be voted upon), and Willoughby City Council. Willoughby City Council operates its Traffic Committee such that the single Council vote, upon any issue is held by the Chair of the Meeting. Generally the Traffic Committee meetings are chaired by a staff member of Council’s Transport Management Group. Willoughby City Council allows the public to attend and speak at its Traffic Committee on issues of concern for a maximum of five minutes. If either the Police or RMS representative on the Traffic Committee disagrees with any Traffic Committee recommendation, or Council resolution on any Traffic Committee recommendation, that member may lodge an appeal with the Sydney Regional Traffic Committee for determination. -

Such plentiful research is gradually expanding into a discourse on examining the meaning of economic development and transformation in the Jiangnan region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
