Fresh Breeze product line

The Fresh Breeze filter-fan unit (FFU) is an independent sus- pended unit with its own radial fan, designed to supply filtered (and optionally chilled) air to clean rooms requiring uniform air flow. It is indended for operation under normal conditions (e.g. for ambient temperatures between -5 °C and 40 °C with relative air humidity up to 85%). A motor fan draws supply air from the top of the casing (optio- nally through a pre-filter and/or cooling coil) and pushes it through a high-efficiency filter located at the bottom of the ca- sing. This process results in a vertical single-direction (laminar or low-turbulence) flow of clean air. Fresh Breeze units create large-area laminar-air flow fields and are equipped with own power supply or connected to local cle- an-room workstations (Fresh Breeze Boxx or Mobile Fresh Breeze).

Cooling Fresh Breeze units can also be supplied with a water-based coil installed on top of the unit. The unit must be operated in a condensation-free mode without accumulation of humidity on the heat-exchanger fins, which prevents subsequent damage to the unit and filter (graph 3). The cooling control system is not part of the delivery. Refer to Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 for readings on cooling capacity levels.

Electrical connection and controls Fresh Breeze fans are equipped with EC motors and are available in the following ver- sions: ECV ECV Fresh Breeze units are quipped with an EC motor with integrated electronics, which can be controlled via an ebm BUS protocol with a set of commands for commu- nication via an RS485 bus bar (the RS 485 is a protocol for serial data transfer using a double-conductor line). This kind of communication makes it possible to connect up to 32 units; in conjunction with RS485 repeaters up to 31 x 255 (number of repeaters) can be interlinked = 7905 unit. The unit is equipped with a cable box. Controls FB-ECV FB-ECV units are delivered with LISA (German / English) software made by ebm papst for PC platforms. LISA provides: – Individual control and diagnostics of up to 7905 units – Group arrangement of units (up to 255 groups with max. 31 units each) – Commands for a group or all units – Stability of air velocity LISA also enables output of operation-related error messages. Minimum requirements to a PC for control via LISA: – PC with Windows 3.11 and higher – PC must have a serial port (COM) – use a RS232/RS485 converter for communication between FB units and the com- puter NB: If the unit error monitoring is not required, the PC can only be connected to set the fan speed and the required value is subsequently saved into the EEPROM memory of the unit. For more details see the LISA user´s manual. The following parts must be ordered separately: – RS232-RS485 converter including power supply – Cable FB-FB, 2 metres long – RS485 repeaters – RJ45 adapter

ECP and ECQ ECP Fresh Breeze units are equipped with an EC motor with integrated electronics, which can be controlled via a 0-10 V voltage signal or a PWM (pulse-width modulation) signal from a higher-ranking control system. PWM is a pulsating signal with a constant 10V amplitude. Control is provided through the change of the signal´s duty cycle. The PWM frequency range is between 1 and 10kHz. The unit is equipped with a cable box. Fresh Breeze ECQ is the same as ECP unit completed with a pressure controller with integrated pressure sensor. The controller has two potentiometers for setting speed levels for night and day. The unit is fitted with a special pressure sampling nozzle. The controller changes the speed of the motor to maintain the required pressure difference corresponding to particular air-volume parameters.

FBG controls Digital touch controller FBG for filter-fan units is intended for common control of up to 9 units Fresh Breeze ECP. With this controller it is possible to activate/deactivate units and adjust their fan speed and air velocity. FBG controller is equipped with a relay for external signalling of fan failure. Two values of fan speed can be set for each FB unit (day and night mode). System includes control panel FBG-CP, external switch board FBG-ER and external power supply 15 V (GDR-20-15). Control panel is connected with external switch board by communication line RS485 and power-supply line. Depending on the on-site requirements and conditions, e.g. differences in local pressure drops, you can change the fan speed using the service mode of the control panel.

Maximum configuration: Up to three FBG-ER can be connected with one FBG-CP; every FBG-ER can control up to 3 FFUs, thus one FBG-CP can control up to 9 FB units. Switch board is equipped with DIP switches used for setting address inside ER switch board. Operation: System is controlled via control panel with three push buttons (below symbols MOON, On/Off, SUN). Operating mode is indicated with LED lights: –green: ( O/I ) = RUNNING – yellow: „SUN“ = DAY mode, „MOON“ = NIGHT mode (reduced velocity) – red: [ ! ] = FAILURE – numbers 1 to 9 (yellow) for indication of particular FFU

Controls FB-CP Digital touch panel FB-CP is intended for controlling of one filter-fan unit Fresh Breeze of type ECP or ECQ: switching on/off and setting fan speed (required output air velo- city). Two values of fan speed can be stored (for day and night mode). Controller is also equipped with signalling of HEPA filter and (optionally) pre-filter exchange (differential pressure switches are not a part of delivery). Controller contains additional relay for external fan alarm. Depending on the on-site requirements and conditions, e.g. differences in local pres- sure drops, you can change the fan speed using the service mode of the control panel.

Operation: Unit is controlled using three push buttons symbols MOON, O/I and SUN. FB unit can be switched on by pressing the SUN button (day mode) or by pressing the MOON but- ton (night mode). Short press of button „O/I“ switches the light on or off (if connected). By pressing longer than 5 seconds switches off both the fan and the light. Indication: In standby mode no symbol lights up. Operating mode is indicated with LED lights: – green LED – unit in operation – red flashing symbol [ ! ] (exclamation mark) – motor fault – yellow symbol SUN lights up and indicates operating mode – fan speed cor- responds to day mode (typically average air velocity 0.45 m/s) – yellow symbol MOON lights up and indicates economic („night“) mode (reduced speed) – yellow LED filter symbol together with flashing exclamation mark [ ! ] indicate that the pre-set final pressure drop is reached. In this case exchange optional pre-filter (left symbol) and HEPA filter (indicated by the right symbol).

Cooling coil – Pipes and fins are made of copper, the casing is made of stainless steel. – The unit is fitted with standard 2-row cooling coils for Fresh Breeze 12 and 24 sizes. Operating parameters can be provided with the project documentation. – Coil must be operated in condensation-free mode on site. The valve assembly, measuring and control components must be provided by the customer.

Soft wall – To minimize turbulences the use of a soft wall (e.g. PVC curtains) is recommended along the borders of the laminar air-flow field. Soft walls are necessary to maximize the laminar air-flow zone. – Soft wall is available as soft wall strips with antistatic finish, thickness = 2 mm, width = 200 mm
