ANALYSIS OF FEEDBACK FROM THE STAKEHOLDERS Year : 2015-2016

Analysis of the Feedback :

There is a formal mechanism to obtain feedback from students and other stakeholders on curriculum.

Feedback from Faculty

Chairman and the members of B.O.S. in respective subjects, takes feedback from faculty at the process of revision and redesign of curricula. A copy of syllabi along with the objectives, teaching methods, schedule for completion of units and question paper pattern is send either by e-mail or mail and a copy is also displayed on internet for all the stakeholders. Faculties study the revised syllabi and suggestions and recommendations, if any, are communicated to the BOS of concerned subject for further action.

Feedback from Students

The institution takes the feedback from students on utility of the syllabus, local and global significance of the subject, use of teaching-aids and skills of the teachers in transmitting knowledge. At the end of the academic year, feedback forms are circulated to students, and they are instructed to record their opinions freely. The institution also collects feedback on the performance of teachers from students. The suggestions on use of teaching-aids and skills of the teachers in transmitting knowledge are communicated to the subject teachers for further action.

Feedback from Parents

The institution organizes Parents Meet at the end of every academic year. The parents are informed about the contents of the syllabi and the relevance and appropriateness of the curriculum. The suggestions of parents are considered with due weightage and implemented if found proper.

BEST PRACTICE - I Year : 2015-2016

Title of the Practice : Skill Development Programme

1) Goal: i) To create awareness among the students about the importance of skill development. ii) To offer various skill development courses to enhance employability among the students.

2) The Context:

To create knowledge and skill based society is the need of today‟s world. The college is situated in the hilly, rural area and majority of students coming to college are from poor families and are lack in vocational skills. So, to provide skill oriented education is the thirst area of the college. One of the ways to improve quality among students is to offer various skilled base training courses along with the traditional curriculum. Therefore, the skill development programme is implemented during the year to enhance the employability among the students. 3) The Practice: The college has established “Skill Development Centre” for the effective implementation of this programme which comprises a co-ordinator and senior faculty members. The Centre prepared a plan for short term skill based courses in the beginning of the academic year. The concerned departments run the course as per schedule prepared by the Centre by taking help of external experts. The Centre also observes seriously whether the course has been run properly. The concerned departments submit detailed report to the Principal after completion of the course. The following nine courses are run under this programme. Sr. Name of the Course Date No. of Beneficiaries 1. C++ 1st July – 30th Sept. 2015 250 2. Web Designing 1st July – 30th Sept. 2015 160 3. D.T.P. 1st July – 30th Sept. 2015 400 4. The resources required are the internal experts and financial assistance.

BEST PRACTICE – II

Title of the Practice : Student Adoption Scheme 1) Goals: i) To understand the problems faced by the students. ii) To counsel the students to overcome their academic and personal difficulties. iii) To enhance healthy relationship between teachers and students.

2) The Context:

Due to rural area and economically poor background, most of the students coming to college are facing many academic and financial problems. It is observed that these problems affect their academic success and career pursuit. The college gives prime importance to students‟ overall development. So, the Student Adoption Scheme is implemented to help the students in their difficulties and to establish healthy rapport between the teachers and students.

3) The Practice: A group of 25 students is assigned to each teacher at the beginning of the academic year. The teacher works as the guardian of that group of students throughout the academic year. The teacher gives personal attention, support and guides them on a number of issues pertaining to their studies, attendance, filling up examination forms, taking examination, communicating examination results to their parents, financial difficulties and all other academic matters. The teacher interacts with the students timely, observes seriously whether these students are on the right path and also in touch with their parents. The teacher keeps all academic record of students allotted to them.

4) Evidence of Success:

Because of proper implementation of this Scheme, the overall performance of the students has been increased - increase in attendance, participation in curricular and extra-curricular activities. The percentage of results of the university examination has also been increased. The students are more comfortable in the college atmosphere. The teaching-learning and administrative work of the college have become more disciplined.

5) Problems Encountered and Resources Required: The main problem for implementing this Scheme effectively is that the teachers get less time due to semester pattern. The resources required are the finance and external counsellors.
