3 Introduction of HUST

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) (http://www.hust.edu.cn) is located in Wuhan, the capital city of Province, in the middle reaches of the River. The campus of HUST is beautifully nestled at the foot of Yujia hill and beside the East Lake with green grass scattered all round in 500 hectares of land. It is a key comprehensive university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education of P. R. China. The University ranks top of the Chinese leading universities in comprehensive strength. A number of other leading research centers are located here.

Introduction of Wuhan

Being the capital city of Hubei Province, Wuhan is an important central city in China and the political, economic, scientific & technological, cultural and financial center in inland China. The third longest river of the world, the Yangtze River, and its longest branch, the , cross here and divide the city into three parts, , Hanyang and Wuchang. There are 13 administrative districts in the city. It covers an area of 8,467 square kms and has a population of 8.31 million. Having abundant human cultural and tourist resources, Wuhan is also a famous city in Chinese history and culture as well as a city with beautiful scenes of hills, water and parks. The famous , The Guiyuan Temple, East Lake Scenic Zone are all located in Wuhan. The famous 1911 revolution also took place in Wuhan. Wuhan is also the transit city to the famous .

Yellow Crane

Yellow Crane Tower, one of Four Major Towers in China, is situated on Snake Hill of Wuchang Distict. It was originally built in the Three Kingdom Period (220 - 280) with a history of over 1700 years. Previously it was destroyed and rebuilt in frequent disasters. The new Yellow Crane Tower was completed in June 1985, and listed by National Tourism Administration into National Best Forty Scenic Spots for Tourists. In the old days it was a gathering place for men of letters. Its name spread far and wide after Cui Hao, a poet of the , wrote a poem entitled "Yellow Crane Tower". Today's Yellow Crane Tower is 51.4 meters high. It looks resplendent and magnificent. From the top of the tower one can enjoy a spectacular view.

Three Gorges

Coursing over a distance of 6380 kilometers, the mighty Yangtze is the longer river in China. It is also a cradle of ancient Chinese civilization. It is about 300 kilometers from Wuhan to Three Gorges. The most impressive section of the river is the three Yangtze River gorges: the , Gorge and , collectively known as the Sanxia, or Three Gorges. Three Gorges are the most magnificent and splendid along the Yangtze River. The is still under construction, and the amazing new scenery will appear after it is completed.
