Meski sudah melampaui usia emas mereka, Hendra/Ahsan justru seperti terlahir kembali dan mampu menunjukkan persaingannya di level elite dunia pada 2019 sejak keduanya menapaki karier bersama mulai dari nol pada 2018, setelah sempat dipisahkan karena Hendra keluar dari pelatnas pada 2017. Di tengah persaingan para pemain-pemain muda berusia 20 tahunan, pasangan berjuluk The Daddies itu tercatat lolos ke 11 final turnamen BWF sepanjang 2019. Mereka bahkan sukses menyabet status juara dalam tiga ajang besar, yakni All England, Kejuaraan Dunia Bulu Tangkis dan BWF World Tour Finals. Berkat prestasi tersebut, Hendra/Ahsan pun berhasil menduduki peringkat kedua dunia sejak Agustus 2019 hingga sekarang. Mereka mengungguli pemain-pemain muda, seperti Li Jun Hui/Liu Yu Chen (China), Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto (Indonesia) dan Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin (Taiwan).
