The plan will involve county commitment to apply an affordable housing overlay zone to at least 144 acres where residential de velopment will be permitted at a mini mum of 20 dwelling units per acre by March 30. 2002. The action would bring the county into compliance w ith its share of the regional housing need for all income groups. In addition the County was encouraged to look into the Jobs-Housing Balance Improve ment Program which provides grants to local governments that increase housing supply and have a housing el ement in compliance with State law. bunds from the program can be used for any project, sen ice. or other local need determined to be in the community's best interest, such as neighborhood park facilities, bike paths and community centers.
