Children’s Week provides seven fun-filled days for children and their families to make lasting memories while engaging in free or reduced-cost recreational activities throughout the City of Appleton. KIDSTAGE® SPRING SESSION SHOW - SEUSSICAL The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo. Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Students will learn the fundamentals of childcare (feeding/diapering/etc..), child safety (choking emergencies/home hazards/etc...), and also learn CPR/AED for Adult, Child, and Infant. This is a great class to build confidence as they enter the exciting world of babysitting, or if they are starting to stay home alone for the first time. JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE Junior Golf League is recommended for ages 11-17 and provides participants an opportunity to challenge themselves and develop their game in a friendly competitive format. Each week, golfers will play 9 holes with guidance from an experienced instructor; however, this league is designed for individuals with a developed skill set and experience playing 9 holes. In 2021, league participants will play for weekly/yearly prizes much like the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup. TRAILS An extensive network of trails throughout the Fox Cities offers a variety of recreational opportunities and connections to the various communities. Many of the trails are paved off-road trails, offering the opportunity to walk, bicycle, and skate on hard surface trails. Some segments are sidewalks along local streets that provide connections to the paved, off-road trails. The "Trails of the Fox Cities" map identifies the trail program offered throughout the Fox Cities. An interactive map is available on our Parks and Recreation website www.appletonparkandrec.org or you can pick up a hard copy at the City Hall 1st Floor Customer Service Center at 100 N. Appleton Street.

2021 PARK PROJECTS At Appleton Parks and Recreation, we continually work to keep our recreational areas well maintained and safe. We listen to the community to determine the best use of our time and resources for new projects and renovations. Here is a snapshot of some of the great projects that we have planned for 2021. Check out our Parks Projects page on our website to follow the projects progress.

• Design and permitting for the David and Rita Nelson River Crossing. This bridge will connect Ellen Kort Peace Park to Pullmans Restaurant. This project will go into 2022.

• New playground equipment at Linwood Park.

• Appleton Memorial Park parking lot will be reconstructed at the Appleton Ice Center and Universal Playground, this will also include a Nelson River Crossing Project rendering new trail from Witzke Blvd. to the playground along with trail lighting from the parking lot to the pavilion/amphitheater.

• Construction of an ADA Fishing Pier at Telulah Park.

• The trail looping through Pierce Park will be reconstructed with lights and exercise stations will be added.

SCHEIG CENTER The Scheig Center is located within Appleton Memorial Park and surrounded by the beautiful Scheig Center Gardens. This facility, as well as the gardens, are available for rent by the public year around. Rentals are available one year in advance and fill up quickly, so book your date now! The Scheig Center features a stunning cathedral ceiling with a natural look and feel through exposed wood beams, and windows and doors overlooking the gardens. With a capacity of up to 75 people it is a great location to host events such as baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties, anniversary parties, holiday parties and weddings!
