5000 FIVB Oman One Star Fédération Internationale de Volleyball [email protected] Telephone +41.21.345.3535 FACT SHEET – $5,000 FIVB Oman One Star Muscat, Oman, March 14-17, 2018 Updated on March 11, 2018, this fact sheet provides information on the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball and the 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball calendar. The 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues with the starred classification of its events, with three five-star events, all of which are the Major Series, ten four-star events, five three-star events, six two-star events, and 21 one-star events, along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. One event held in October, 2018 in China (Yangzhou) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The men’s-only $5,000 FIVB Oman One Star is the tenth men’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour. The women have played six events. The FIVB is holding a World Tour event in Oman for the first time. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.com. · March 14-17, Muscat, Oman, Men Only, $5,000 – Oman is hosting an FIVB World Tour event for the first time. The venue is the Millennium Resort Mussanah in Muscat. The format is a 16-team qualification tournament with four teams advancing to the main draw. The 16-team main draw will consist of modified pool play followed by single elimination. · The FIVB Oman One Star starts March 14 and concludes March 17. The winning team will share the $1,000 first-place prize. The women have played 338 events. The FIVB Swatch World Tour returns to China for the 14th-straight year with Dalian hosting the first women’s event in 1998 and Lianyungang hosting the first men’s event in 2004. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org. · May 2 - 8, China Shanghai Jinshan Open, Men and Women, $380,000 - Shanghai returns to the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour calendar for the eighth-straight season (seventh for men). It will be held at the Jinshan Beach Stadium in the Jinshan District. This will be China’s 29th and 30th FIVB Swatch World Tour events, including 10 previous men’s and 18 women’s events. The 2011 Shanghai stop also marks the 14th-straight season that China has staged a FIVB Swatch World Tour event. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. One event held in October, 2018 in China (Yangzhou) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The double-gender $600,000 FIVB Fort Lauderdale Major is the eighth men’s event and sixth women’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour.
