Outdoor Learning Programme

Clovenstone Primary enjoyed making winter bird feeders as part of our outdoor learning programme where they came up with some great ideas to help achieve their John Muir Award. In conjunction with Scottish Natural Heritage, this outdoor learning program aims to develop increased appreciation of the great outdoors.

Seagrove Centre Walking Programme

We enjoyed our final walk of the season with the Seagrove Centre. Beautiful winter sunshine, long shadows and a view of the sea then back to the centre to cosy up with mince pies and entertaining stories from Ron Fairweather. What a lovely day and the weather was just perfect, everyone had a great time enjoying each other's company whilst getting outdoors to enjoy the crisp winter air and the stories were excellent.

The manager of the Seagrove Centre said: “We are really keen and enjoy the outdoors so much. Our members mood and well being improves so much when they have been outdoors.”

Out & About in Dumbiedykes

The Dumbiedykes Out & About healthy lifestyle project kicked off the new year with a wonderful day jam packed full of activities for local families at the Braidwood Centre. Joined by the Dynamic Earth team participants could plant seeds and then try out what they would be taking home to grow in a lovely bruschetta. There was a huge variety of fun activities for the children to try, such as drumming on bins, hula hooping, face painting, balloons, cycling and a chance to do a range of fun activities with the Scottish Parliament outreach team, NHS , Edinburgh Film Festival, One Parent Family Scotland and Scottish Forestry. It was such a lovely sunny day and we had over 60 people come along to join in the fun. Participants told us it was 'Totally fab' and "..a really fun day out that the kids really enjoyed.' A massive thank you to all of the organisations who came together to provide such fun activities for the community!

South Edinburgh Activities

The Out & About family group joined in the Scottish celebrations this afternoon as we shared a delicious burns supper. For a few, it was their first try of the Scottish delicacy that is... Haggis! And it went down well! Finishing it off with a wee boogie with some ceilidh dancing where we did Robert proud!

It was fantastic get back into the groove with Walking Group this morning. We walked up to Redford Woods for a little circuit, finishing back at Costa at Tescos for refreshments. It was great to welcome a new member and to catch up with everyone after Christmas and New year. Big thanks to Stuart & his wife for the lovely diaries.

What a wonderful yoga session with Naomi from Yoga Health Edinburgh at Inch House Community Centre. It feels so good to take some time to re-centre and re-charge. There's something special about connecting with your breath and allowing yourself to focus on gentle poses. It can help you to feel invigorated and refreshed, highly recommended for those looking to de-stress.

We had another brilliant session at Boxercise at Goodtrees

Neighbourhood Centre and received some lovely feedback from participants: "Loved it! Great fun and good work out."

"Was great fun!! My arms are feeling it already!! Thank you - see you again on Monday."

"Thanks for a great class ladies! Didn’t even die...much"

Clermiston Park Consultation

We are asking stakeholders and the local community to provide any feedback they may have on the plans, which will be considered and incorporated where appropriate. A summary of the feedback received and an explanation of any subsequent changes made will be provided along with the finalised plan.

Residents and visitors have been asked to comment on a new 10-year Strategic Plan for the Pentland Hills through a survey which ends on 31st January.
