I am a permanent, full-time photography faculty member at MICA, one of the nation's leading art institutions. In Academic Year 2005-2006, and again in 2007-2008, I served as the interim direc - tor of the school's Masters in Digital Arts program. Since 2011, I have served as the Associate Dean for Design and Media.

Associate Dean of Design and Media - Selected Duties and Initiatives, 2011- present: • Oversee eight undergraduate departments: Photography, Film and Video, Animation, Graphic Design, Printmaking, Illustration, Architecture, and Interactive Arts. • Responsible for Curriculum development and Implementation. • Overseen complete redesign and implementation of divisional assessment plan. • Led the redesign and re-accreditation of MICA's new Architectural Design program. • Currently overseeing design and implementation of 3D Object Design concentration. • Represent the Design and Media Division in interactions with all areas of the college.

Photography Department Roles and Initiatives 2003 - 2011: • Instituted and drove overhaul of departmental curriculum and course requirements to make degree plan more flexible and more relevant for needs of graduating photography majors. • Developed, piloted, and taught first four years of "Contemporary Directions and Practices in Photography", a new required course covering history and theories of photography since 1970. • Was instrumental in community-building measures, ranging from better administrative processes, and informal student gatherings, to a departmental website and "Works in Progress" show. • Director of digital program development within the Photography department 2003-2009. • Re-designed departmental digital lab configuration; oversaw budgeting and purchasing for new computers, DSLR cameras, printers, scanners, and other peripherals. • Shared full advisement responsibilities for more than 125 photography majors. • Juried school-wide competitive scholarships, departmental awards, and student projects. • Organized, co-curated, and oversaw hanging of departmental exhibitions.

NATIONAL JURY EXPERIENCE National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) ; Miami, FL; 2004-2006. National Panelist, Photography. • Panelist and adjudicator for nationwide photography scholarship competition. • Responsible for selecting students deemed to be the most talented photographers in the nation. • Responsible for allocating $30,000 in merit-based scholarship money among 8 finalists. • Workshop leader for photography finalists at youngARTS week each January in Miami.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE The JCC in Manhattan / Arts and Culture. New York, NY; 2002-2003. Director of Photography Programming. • Directed all aspects of an ethnically, religiously, and socio-economically diverse urban community arts program, serving adults and children from all over the New York metropolitan area. • Created and implemented an annual budget of more than $200,000. Oversaw the program as it achieved profitability for the first time [within a non-profit organization]. • Oversaw development, planning, scheduling, and staffing of over 100 classes per year. • Directed visiting-artists lecture series featuring Bruce Davidson, Penelope Umbrico, etc. • Co-curated a major retrospective of Frédéric Brenner's photography: Diaspora: Homelands in Exile. • Hired, and directed payroll for 25+ faculty and staff members, as well as dozens of volunteers. • Maintained a state-of-the-art black and white darkroom, digital lab, and classrooms.

New York University / Department of Photography and Imaging . 1998-2001. Technical Director for Digital Processes; Darkroom Coordinator. • Responsible for all technical aspects of the digital imaging program in NYU’s undergraduate photography department. • Development and maintenance of digital imaging lab, digital video production, multimedia output, as well as faculty and staff computers. • Full experience with Colenta color print processor as well as all other aspects of color and black and white wet darkrooms. • Experience purchasing computer and video hardware, from retailers and directly from vendors. • Supervisor to 24 undergraduate technical assistants.
