Proficiency Awards Night SCCHS annual Proficiency Awards Night will be held on Monday, June 4th at 7pm. Over $55, 000 (not including Great Plains College scholarships) in prizes and awards will be distributed during the evening. SCCHS would like to congratulate all this year's recipients. SCCHS would also like to thank all those who donated, Proficiency Awards Night could not occur without your generosity!

Grade 11 Scholarship Attention Grade 11 students Great Plains College has a $1000 scholarship available for any grade 11 student with a minimum 70% average. Applications are due by June 30, 2018. More information is available in Student Services.

ClubsCLUBS SCCHS Gay-Straight Alliance Club The SCCHS Gay-Straight Alliance Club invite you to partake in Swift Current's Pride Week, held June 3-9. There are events every day!! The GSA students will be most involved in the following events:  Monday, June 4 - Pride flag raising at Market Square at 12:15 pm  Friday, June 8 - Pride Glow Bowling from 7-9 pm

 Saturday, June 9 - Pride BBQ at Market Square from 11am - 3pm

- Pride March at 12 pm

- Drag Workshop at 2 pm at the Lyric Theatre

- Lyric Pride Dance at 8 pm

Outdoor ED

Outdoor education students will be heading out on the last trip of the school year to Castle Mountain Provincial Park in southern Alberta on June 13-16. Already training in bear safety and backcountry camping, we are waiting to see what the weather has in store for us... We will start the season again in the fall with our junior orientation trip to Elkwater

September 20-22, and will depart on the fall senior trip to the Adam's River sockeye salmon festival on Oct 3-6. Any new student (in any grade) that wants to join up with our club can plan to attend our fall information night where we will have registration, sample gear, and trip outlines for the year.

BUSINESS CLUB We had our windup luncheon on May 31/18 with our students, parents and community supporters! This was a fantastic 3rd year for our Business Club with excellent experiences, exciting accomplishments and much to be proud of! Some highlights for the year: Business School of the Year, top teams at Ivey Competition in Calgary, excellent placings in 6 different debate competitions all over the province, and huge community support here in Swift Current and amazing colleagues, parents and students to work with! Sports The track and field team will wrap up another successful season this weekend at the SHSAA provincial championships in Prince Albert. 61 Track athletes competed for SCCHS through the months of April and May. Highlights from the season include capturing the team title at the Invitational, hosting the Swift Current Invitational and establishing many new meet records in every age group. 52 athletes qualified to compete at the SWAC Championships in Swift Current. Scott Joseph broke & Field the junior boys 100m, 200m and triple jump records. Rhett Vavra broke the midget boys 200m and 400m record. Kamryn Johnson broke the midget girls shot put record. 35 athletes qualified for the provincial championship with results to be determined!

SCC Student of the Month The School Community Council has developed an initiative aimed at Student motivating and increasing connections with students. The Student of the Month will be given out to one student in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Students are nominated by their teachers to the SCC, and from those nominated students a random selection process is used by the SCC to of the determine the recipient of the award. Each month a different department in the school will be nominating students. This month it was Physical Education. Each Student of the Month will receive a $10 coupon from the SCCHS Cafeteria, sponsored by the SCC. Grade 9 Student of the Month- Carter Bailey- Carter continually strives to improve himself in PE and works to the best of his ability. He is a self-motivated student who pushes himself outside of his comfort

zone. Carter also works well with others and has a positive attitude in class.

Grade 10 Student of the Month – Kyla Morante- Kyla earned a 99% in the first term of Wellness. She's an extremely responsible student and a natural leader in the classroom. Assignments are always completed on time and with exceptional quality. She excels in the gym, working hard to acquire and refine new movement skills. She motivates others through physical activity, and always challenges herself to do better.

Grade 11 Student of the Month- Quinn Patenaude- On a daily basis Quinn comes to class ready to participate, better himself, and have fun. He is respectful towards others and is a great teammate during competition. Quinn is always up for a challenge and is willing to give it his all!

Taylor Platt is a grade 11 student currently enrolled in a 30 level course- Taylor displays critical thinking skills and is not afraid to ask questions to deepen her understanding. She shows attention to detail in her work and a willingness to put in the work to learn new material.
